What about the others mentioned. Are they significant contributors?

I may be well off but their defense has not been the centerpiece of their success lately. Will this be a major problem for Tulsa's team?

actually DE. I was wondering that too. I have expected for some time a substantial number of players to be ineligible nation-wide for the first 4 games due to that new NCAA rule regarding satisfactory progress in the fall semester. We should find out the effect of that rule real soon.

FWIW, I was talking with a fellow SMU alum who was recently at a Tulsa function. Their coach spoke -- I have no idea what their coaches' name is -- but he was speaking to a Tulsa alum who told him, he thought very little of Tulsa's new coach.

For some reason, I'm just buying into anything that Tulsa has this year. I think this is a road win SMU collects.

Bill Blankenship....Coached high school football in Oklahoma for twenty years, won three state titles in his last four years, then quit and has been an assistant coach at Tulsa since 2007 or so. He also played quarterback for Tulsa in the late seventies. Great coach at the high school level....anyone's guess at this level. Gerry Faust? Hope so.

You took note of a fan who has no faith in his alma mater's head coach? What a stretch.

I just like the fact that within two sentences, Zellers/Zellars has his name spelled two different ways.

I honestly expected Tulsa to take a step back this year as well, Their old coach was really hands on and I expect that to burt them.

Well, that fan/alum didn't like Buzz Peterson either. Seems he was right about him.

Thanks RGV. My super fired-up 8-year old is joining me so I'm thinking I'll either fly or stay the night. Eight hours in the car can be a little rough.
