Many might consider freshman slot receiver Ronnell Sims lucky to have missed the SMU football team's summer running sessions in the afternoon sun ... except for the fact that he only missed them because of unexpected surgery. Sims visited with PonyFans.com to explain what happened, and what it's like being back on the field.

Enjoy!

Those things can be scary, and I'm glad he's OK. My brother had one, and I expect he'll have some fatigue for a while, but thank goodness he's feeling better.

Interesting story. Get better, Ronnell.

I had a small infection in my neck a few years ago and was on antibiotics for 20 days. Only about an inch long, but one of the most painful things I've dealt with.

Glad to hear he's back and healthy. Those things can be scary.

Don't worry about this season, Ronnell. Take a redshirt year, get your strength back, get a handle on SMU academic stuff, and tear it up starting in the spring.
