SMU quarterbacks coach Dan Morrison visited with PonyFans.com Monday to discuss the evolution of the Mustangs' offense, the toughness of quarterback Kyle Padron and how a senior-laden offensive line allows the coaches to change up their approach.

Enjoy!

Yeah, I made that mistake a couple of years ago, trying each pay site for a year. I cancelled both and don't miss either one a bit.

I'm really intrigued by Coach Morrison's comment about how there's a chance the offense really takes off this year. I don't see why that can't happen, with Padron entering his third season and the strong offensive line and Zach Line and quality receivers like Keenan Holman, Cole Beasley, etc. I'm guessing there's no "lead" receiver this season, and that it's more of a receivers-by-committee approach. I'm not sure that isn't a good thing, too. With no clear-cut lead horse, Padron should have more options as defenses can't load up on one guy.

OTP and Buddha I disagree and the other sites serve a major purpose in assisting in recruiting good athletes to SMU. The discussions over there are different and can be more revealing because we can say things on the paid site that we just can't here. The sites have their strengths and weaknesses and I choose to stay on Rivals. Its really worth it to have those guys stay on recruits and it legitimizes SMU to some extent. Rivals just had one of their reporters move out to the West Coast this week, and will be able to cover our California recruiting firsthand and in person.
Rivals now has a great guy covering SMU basketball and is on it!
For instance you don't know about some great basketball recruits on the east coast that are interested in SMU, nor do you know about the stud German football player we are recruiting that has major interest in SMU, because its not on PF.
Don't get me wrong as I love PF too.

They do serve a purpose, an important one. If you believe it to be not worth the investment, than far be it from any of us to tell you how to spend your own money. I believe it to be a worthwhile investment, and would encourage others to add them to your catalog of Ponies coverage- right next to Ponyfans.

I love me some Dan Morrison. High school head coach and history teacher when June found him in Hawaii.

That being said...

Uh, nice hat, Dan.
