Looks like, "THE TRADITION", at UT continues

Senior safety Christian Scott was arrested Monday morning and charged with misdemeanor assault with bodily injury.

A starter last season, Scott had 53 tackles and one interception. He was expected to be in contention for the starting job at strong safety, along with junior Kenny Vaccaro.

Head coach Mack Brown released the following statement Monday evening:

"We're aware of the situation with Christian Scott and disappointed any time one of our players is accused of wrongdoing. We've talked to Christian and his family, and he has been suspended from all activities with our football team. Following the completion of the legal process, we will do what's best for The University, Christian and the team."

People are learning the longhorn mantra of "we are family" is not necessarily a good thing. The "Sopranos" were family too! Will be interesting to see if the good kids from good families with good character choose to be in that kind of enviroment. Do the longhorns really represent the best of Texas high school football and it's coaches? No. It represents the worst of being a student athlete..not in all cases but too many to be aceptable at this institution of "higher learning".

Mack was disappointed to hear of his arrest, but on the bright side he was happy to see that the kid had been working on his "hitting" during the off season.

They could also do a spin off of Las Vegas Jail and do a program on the Austin book-in: Longhorn Jail.

My thoughts, too. Wonder how many on their roster haven't been arrested.

got news for you...the good kids from good families with good character are not BCS top 20 college athletes - with almost no exception.

Have to say this thought has crossed my mind but hope it won't happen. I think, hope, there are enough good kids, who are good athletes, we can keep recruiting.

i mean it's gonna happen, it's inevitable....but we have to remember that it's ALWASY a noticeable minority of players who cause the problems...n one actually has a team of thugs no matter what we say here about UT

i think the team to follow right now is ND...over the next 2 yrs let's seem how many incidents there are

I would rather have a team that wins eight to nine games every season with kids that keep their nose clean and graduate than a UT, Alabama or name your own program that has to recruit the kind of kids that can't seem to stay out of trouble but are blue chip athletes.
Duke basketball for the most part is an exception to the rule.

Beat A&M!!!
