Said this on Sirius earlier today and there is a huge thread about this on Texags. I'll summarize the highlights:
* LHN = unbalanced revenue for tu
* A&M and others wants equal share of revenue
* Dan Bebee blows as commish
* Strong mutual interest - SEC would not come calling second time if A&M did not bring something major to the table
* Slive not bitter after last summer
* Obviously it benefits A&M and the SEC
* Been told they are trying to wrap this up quickly - will be surprised if it does not happen soon
* Consistently hearing adding partner from east - no one else from Big 12 - but will go to 13 for a year if need be

Florida State and/or Clemson are logical targets for eastern division counter balance

Virginia Tech is also in the mix.

Ah, Billy Liucci — he wrote for me when he was starting out.
Really good guy.

I hope this stuff drags on for a few weeks so they will be distracted for our game.

So we might have a chance to beat a Big12 team and an SEC team in the same weekend.

Please don't stoop to aggie's level and call Texas tu

anytime anyone writes tu instead of UT - they might as well stand on a chair and scream
"i have a huge inferiority complex". And i am no UT fan.

I can buy all of that, except I don't see Florida, Bama and others agreeing to Florida State. Being an SEC schools is a big recruiting advantage in FL and GA. I can't see them giving a great recruiter (Jimbo Fisher) an even playing field in their recruiting grounds. Fisher is a great recruiter.
VT... maybe. But the Virginia legislature already dropped the hammer on UVA in order to get VT in the ACC. I don't know if they would allow VT to leave UVA behind.
I can see people agreeing to Clemson. I could also see Miami going. I can't picture WVU being invited.

Clemson brings SC rivalry, great fans and sports programs, but not a new market. I agree that VT owes UVA and probably can't abandon them. FSU is too dangerous to the SEC, as is Miami to a lesser degree.
I am guessing A&M joins by themselves, as Nebraska did with the Big Ten. SEC can then that a year to determine whether OK or going East makes sense.

Sherman on the SEC chatter: "My job is to go out there and put the best team I can on the field against SMU, and that's where I leave it."

I hope we don't get distracted

Like TCU going to the Big East, I think this happens. Aggies are too proud to take UTs seconds forever. When the Ags go, I also think Kansas and Mizzou will soon follow to the Big East. Makes particular sense is Va Tech is the eastern addition to the SEC opposite the Ags. We'll see, but BYUs move and espn backing opened alot of eyes.

The SEC's never had a problem with, or been threatened by, FSU. It was supposed to be FSU and either Miami or A&M the last time the SEC expanded - it was Bowden who nixed the deal when he tried to make his own conference schedule, rather than play what the conference assigned him to (at least according to the #2 man in the Vanderbilt athletic department at the time).
I have to agree with those who say VT may have a political problem leaving the ACC if offered. OTOH, if they do get offered, the ACC let's em go and goes and gets the school they wanted in the first place, Syracuse.
Doesn't matter. Every school in the deep south is now combing their hair and straightening their tie - the SEC will know who they want and act fast.
Best chances:
FSU
OU
VT
Second place:
Miami
GT
Clemson
Dark Horses:
Mizzou
West Virginia
ECU
(it hurts me to say this) TCU
