If Aggy to SEC: What Next?Just curious what you guys think happens next.
IMO Texas goes indy, OU, OSU, Mizzou, and Tech go PAC 16, Kansas and Kansas State go Big East, and Baylor and Iowa State join CUSA. So for SMU a revised CUSA could look like this: CUSA West - SMU, Houston, Tulsa, Baylor, UTEP, Rice, Iowa State CUSA East- UCF, Southern Miss, Tulane, UAB, Marshall, Memphis, East Carolina Not too shabby. Back off Warchild seriously.
Re: If Aggy to SEC: What Next?
unless you're Baylor & Iowa St
If Aggy to SEC: What Next?PAC 12 is done for now and will not take tech or osu...
Ku mizzu ksu to big east Everyone else for themselves
If Aggy to SEC: What Next?Doesn't the Big 12 have BCS AQ contract for a long time?
Re: If Aggy to SEC: What Next?Nick,
If true then SMU has a GREAT opportunity as a potential backfiller for what's left if the Big 12 don't you think? They'd be down to 5-6 members. Maybe some combination of Houston, SMU, Boise State, and Colorado State? Back off Warchild seriously.
Re: If Aggy to SEC: What Next?OU is strong enough to go indy if need be but what does OSU do? No way the Pac wants them or Tech.
Re: If Aggy to SEC: What Next?No f'ing way is OU capable of going independent. Not to mention T. Boone isn't going to let OSU be left out of anything OU wants to do.
Back off Warchild seriously.
Re: If Aggy to SEC: What Next?
isnt that what you said about TCU going Big East? OU could do it if they had to, I guarantee they will do it before aligning with more Baylor like schools.
Re: If Aggy to SEC: What Next?I believe that Texas is going to find is non-football sports up a creek without a major conference if they go independent. They will still demand access to the LHN for basketball, and uneven cut for revenue--they have just gotten too big for anyone to want to deal with them--Sunbelt anyone?
Re: If Aggy to SEC: What Next?As usual, it's up to Texas and the TV markets. If Texas says, "Okay, we're going to make this work for now," the conference pushes on with 9 members for who knows how long. There's an outside chance that even if OU gets an invite to the SEC UT and OSU may be able to carrot and stick them into staying - maybe. Hell this whole damn thing has gotten political.
But it Texas says 'we're done' or the TV markets say 'Nope, we're not paying the same money without A&M,' then the others are in big trouble. Hell, OU could get stranded if they don't get an invite and UT leaves. It would be OU and the 7 dwarves. Notice though: This thing isn't done until the papers are signed. Everybody thought all of Texas was joining the Pac-10 and it didn't happen. I guarantee you TTU and Baylor are calling in every favor imaginable right now to keep A&M. Even UT is running the numbers, I guarantee you.
Re: If Aggy to SEC: What Next?
The collapse of the Big 12 is the only chance we have at AQ conference.... Hopefully orsini hasn't been interviewing too much and is working the lines.... At the end of the day we need our biggest boosters making calls if the situation really comes to fruition. Could be a bumpy ride, keep your fingers crossed...
Re: If Aggy to SEC: What Next?If A&M goes to the SEC, it could set off a huge domino effect. Major conference defections usually do. The SEC likely wouldn't stay at an odd numbered 13 schools, they'd go after OU, Mizzou, and/or an ACC school. Big Ten may then see fit to expand past 12 to keep up with the SEC and similarly target Missouri, ND, or some of the Big East schools like Pitt and Syracuse. Then you've got the ACC raiding the Big East, and either the Big East dissolving or going after C-USA schools.
I really doubt that the Pac-12 makes a move for anymore schools at this point. They've got a great TV deal and a cash cow championship game, and I doubt that their member schools would want to put up with Texas and the LHN BS. And the only way OU, OSU, or Tech go to the Pac-12 is on the Longhorns' coattails. So that's a longshot.
Re: If Aggy to SEC: What Next?Big XII stays at 9 members and Texas or OU plays a BCS game every year
Re: If Aggy to SEC: What Next?
The beginning of a four mega-conference NCAA football system :p
