Pony Excess on iTunes vs. purchasing a disc on Amazon

Just wanted to note that the iTunes version of Pony Excess is different from the "original" version. The plus side of iTunes is (*I think*) you can get the flick in full HD, rather than the SD on DVD over at Amazon.

However, in the film we use some NFL footage... NFL Films does not allow their footage to be used in downloadable content, thus the iTunes version has still images (with "moves" over the stills) rather than the original footage we used.

Anyway, I just wanted to throw that out there.

...

I've been too busy with my new stuff to confirm, but I hear that Best Buy is now selling a BluRay version of the whole shootin' match. I don't know if it has special features.

Oh, and that's another reason to go Amazon. It's a two disc set with cut scenes, extended interviews, and some [shortened for time] games.

(Not trying to push you folks one way or the other for my benefit... I don't see a $0.01 either way... ESPN owns the full rights to the film.)

Thanks for the info. It helps in the purchasing decision. Guess I will buy both. Sorry you don't get any 'reward' for it.

I believe I will be 'ponying up' for the disc version even though I already have the thing on iTunes.

And btw - "Pony Excess" remains a mainstay on my ipod because it's just so darn good!

Thanks again, Thad. You the man!

Thad -

I have the iTunes version with about 2 or 3 minutes of extra interviews tacked on to the end of the film, but it doesn't have it on the box set version, the second half of 30 for 30. If I buy the 2 disc set, does that have more interviews?

Yes. More stuff.

Plus three games from the 80s and the Hawaii Bowl from '09 (all, again, shortened for time)... the two disc set has extended interviews from Musburger, Verne, Dickerson, James, and others. Plus stuff on Ron Meyer being the original Jimmy Johnson... more stuff on the '80 Texas game, etc.
