Injury updates

• Freshman OL Dontae Levingston returned to the field after leaving practice early Wednesday with an injured thumb. He said after Wednesday's practice that it would be OK, and he appeared to be participating in all drills, albeit with a light brace on his thumb.
• Senior DE Kevin Grenier sat out of practice Thursday after he "tweaked" his shoulder. Grenier said he was told to rest and was planning to meet with a doctor later Thursday.
• Junior LB Cameron Rogers got the results of the X-ray and MRI, which revealed nothing is broken or torn. Rogers said the doctor told him there "might be a bruise on the meniscus," and said a radiologist was going to evaluate the results further. When asked if the a clean bill of health from the radiologist would mean an immediate return to the practice field, Rogers said he didn't know. He said the knee is feeling better, but said he might be told to continue resting it. Stay tuned.
• Junior G Jordan Free watched practice Thursday with a cast on his right hand, which is protecting a broken bone in his thumb. Free said the injury occurred Wednesday when it was hit accidentally by RB Billy Dugal. Free said his hand, which has considerable swelling, will be in the case for about three weeks, after which he will wear a molded splint ... but he hopes to return to the practice field — presumably with the cast wrapped up — next Monday. "I'll try to get back Monday," he said. "I just have to see how it feels."
