More Aggies Musing On Potential New Big 12This seems to be the general consensus on their forum if, indeed, Texas decides to stay put and the conference expands:
If/When the Ags leave for the SEC, would the Big 12 consider adding: TCU, SMU, & Houston? The Big 12 is still a BCS Conference and although TCU has already joined a BCS Conference, this new version of the Big 12 would be attractive to current schools as well as new additions. Texas gets to keep their TV Network, the other programs (TCU, SMU & UH) would elevate their program by playing in a BCS Conference all the while UT, OU, OSU, Mizzou, etc would remain the top programs in the conference. Teams would play in 'big city' networks in Dallas and Houston (thus having an influence on recruiting), attendance would be high at all events due to short travel distances and regional fan-fare. Conference championship would be played in Cowboys Stadium, possible BCS Bowl Stadium in the future. Back off Warchild seriously.

i like your scenario but as much as i hate to say it the above may be more likely. things are going to heat up in a hurry once the ags go.
Re: More Aggies Musing On Potential New Big 12Hear is an audio interview of some one from agyell.com saying they will leave after this seasonhttp://www.yahoosportsradio.com/s ... ters-5293/
Re: More Aggies Musing On Potential New Big 12If A$M leaves the Big XII-II, will they change their fight song? Will Texa$ still care to play A$M? And who will out hick the other, A$M or Mississippi State?
Re: More Aggies Musing On Potential New Big 12If I were Texas I would stop playing A&M if they left. Some rivalries die (like UT vs. Ark.) and the ultimate middle finger to A&M.
Maybe an SMU vs. UT Thanksgiving Holiday game? One could only wish.
Re: More Aggies Musing On Potential New Big 12There is a high probability that A&M wouldn't play Texas again--or at least on a regular basis. The SEC wouldn't schedule their games around a November series and I am not sure A&M cares--they aren't leaving on a high note in their relationship. Nebraska doesn't play OU any more and for years that the game of the year in the Big 8. A&M will have its hands full with the games in the SEC and until they get their program righted in terms of that conference, it might not be desirable.
Re: More Aggies Musing On Potential New Big 12
The SEC seems to schedule their games around UGA vs GA Tech in late November every year.

I think you are right. aTm could care less. The reason they are about to possibly leave is because of Texas. "We will play man to man and we will pick you up at the airport." - Larry Brown

Re: More Aggies Musing On Potential New Big 12
same w/ LSU-Arkansas, though that's a conference game
Re: More Aggies Musing On Potential New Big 12A&M probably can't afford another loss every year after the pounding they will take in the SEC

Re: More Aggies Musing On Potential New Big 12Agreed.
Interesting part to me is, the more I listen to folks on national radio (SiriusXM) the more it sounds like the SEC folks could care less about A&M. They would much rather have UT or OU and feel A&M is second rate. Obviously the presidents of these universities and the conference itself feels different. But I would say a lukewarm response at best by the SEC faithful. I think the key player will be OU. They have to decide what they want to do. If they stay the Big 12 will survive, for a while. They bolt right after A&M and it will get crazy in a hurry. Lots of back room deals to be done.
Re: More Aggies Musing On Potential New Big 12I can't say there is a whole lot of enthusiasm for any SEC expansion here in Arkyland.
Re: More Aggies Musing On Potential New Big 12Texas ain't going to the SEC. It would be funny though to see Texas and OU take A&M's spot and leave the Aggies behind. I would laugh my [deleted] off.

Re: More Aggies Musing On Potential New Big 12
There is going to be about as much enthusiasm for SEC expansion by there fans as there would be for Ivy League expansion by their alumni. If there is such things as college football snobs, its the SEC. I believe those of you that think that A&M will get crushed in the SEC are going to be in for a big surprise. I'm not saying that they will dominate or anything, but A&M is built to win like Arky and the [deleted] never were.
Re: More Aggies Musing On Potential New Big 12good points, once you start bluffing you stand the chance of getting burned if you mess around. OU could snake the Aggies spot very easily and if there is only one spot available in SEC West, they very well might jump on it before the music stops.
