SMU Gear at Double-Decker Wal-Mart

Postby Bergermeister » Fri Aug 19, 2011 1:06 pm

I met store manager Jarred this morning at the new duplex store at Skillman and Northwest Hwy. I thanked him for stocking SMU stuff and for the SMU "presence" in different areas of the store. As stated in a previous post, they have the flags, koozies, and caps. There were a couple of mannequins with SMU t-shirts that looked good (the shirts, not the mannequins - yet). BUT there were no t-shirts, shorts, sweats or anything else. So I was directed to Jarred. He said that, because they just received their licensing, there was a truckload of SMU stuff that was being shipped overnight and it should be on the shelves over the weekend. Autograph balls, t-shirts, the whole ball o' wax. He said it was his intention to stock considerably more SMU than any of the other schools. They have some good signage, etc. with "SMU Mustangs" - but it is the old SMU-Boise State Copeland logo.
BTW - anybody seen the new Texas Monthly? - terrific article and chart on Peruna vs. state of Texas mascots. Conclusion: nobody can take down Peruna.
If you stop by the store - holler at Jarred and thank him.

Well I didn't either - at first. Open the "fold-out" cover and there is the other half of the "crowd" - we're on the front row - guy with the SMU shirt on screamin' "Run, Zach, run."

I was there yesterday, but did not meet Jarred, saw other teams version of what the

autograph balls would look like"pretty nice", but didn't see anything that looked

boise st. like, all Mustang stuff I saw had the real pony.
