Sorry to divert from the video fundraising effort for Thad and Treadway21(which I will contribute if it happens)...we have new news and something tangible - some of you have expressed interest. There are yellow daily billboards - http://www.dallasdaily.net that most of you in Dallas have seen on Central Expressway. Very visible and high traffic. Locations -- http://www.dallasdaily.net/locations.html

We have gotten SMU approval from SID to advertise a message for the fball games on one of the boards. This will start with the UTEP game from Sept 5 - Sept 9th and most likely continue through the season depending on how much you guys are willing to help. A few of us are going to get this started asap. Ideal location is 75 / Royal but they have a lot of good locations around town.

Message:
SMU FOOTBALL VS UTEP – 9/10@6PM
FORD STADIUM – TICKETS $15 & UP
214-SMU-GAME or SMUMustangs.com

Thanks! -- please PM me or post here your amount of contribution. Appreciate any help to market SMU fball.
So, how do we get a famous celeb to wear SMU gear around :) ?

GiddyUp

Awesome - count me in. Ponyfans are making a difference for SMU athletics. The more visibility we have the better. If we can translate these efforts into ticket sales and attendance, we will have done our part in getting SMU back to its former glory.

Each billboard is roughly 1200 for the week. We'll know soon how many are avail that week. I'm in for 1200..hope we can do at least 3..

Ideally, we'd like to do 5-7 day ads for each home game, so that is approximately $6-7K total for one location board for the whole season (depending on availability), the more money the more locations we can do. Would be great to have 2 or 3 in the city per game.

Guess it would be nice to know what we are buying. No interest in something that looks unprofessional - this represents our product to lots of people on 75. Bad advertisement might be worse than none. JMHO

Just a thought - it might be more effective if the billboards were in the suburbs rather than just along 75 near campus. We focus a lot of the area right around the school, but I think it's even more important that we remind those in the suburbs that we are here.

Lots of talent in Plano/Allen/Garland/Mesquite/Lewisville/etc and plenty of families looking for things to do on a Saturday.

I'm sure you know this living in Plano RGV. I know there is a daily billboard in Plano at 75/Park Blvd.

I get the kind of sign it is now.....I'm slow.

SMU FOOTBALL VS UTEP – Sat 6PM
Tailgating on Boulevard - 4pm
214-SMU-GAME - Tickets $15

Should fit...why not advertise all our assets?

Main thing.....good job/effort in organizing. I'm in.

Good stuff, GiddyUp!
The more billboards around town, the better.
At least someone sees the value of marketing the program!
