One of the major reasons, I would argue, that the Big XII finds itself in this predicament is that it has shown absolutely no vision over the past 15 years. Everybody should have seen the PAC 10 coming after CU (and Texas, BTW), and the Big 10 coming after another school wouldn't have been a shocker, either. They would have been aware of the revenue difference the Big Ten had, and should have made moves to prepare for these happenings. But they sat around and waited.
And I don't mean just Texas - ISU, BU, TT, MU, KSU, OSU, and KU should have voiced some sort of plan to protect themselves. Maybe they did, maybe I didn't see it, but it doesn't appear that they were proactive at all.
So, here they are, down to 9 schools. My question:
Does the Big XII look to the future and try to build the conference and bring in at least three schools, maybe even five, to bring themselves to 14 and equal to the SEC (remember, the Big XII copyrighted the name "Big XIV," too), or do they simply try to plug the hole, bring in one member, and salvage the TV deal that they had?
Obviously, I hope it's the former, because it gives us the best shot to join. But even if it's not us, are they proactive, and go with, say: BYU, Boise State, AFA, Lousiville, and Cincy? Or SOME combination of the five?
Or do they continue to sit on their hands?
