Would we Accept a Big East InviteIf WV and Pitt go to the Big 12?
Assuming no more defections, that would leave these 7 schools: - TCU - UCONN - Cincy - Louisville - Rutgers - Syracuse - USF and perhaps adding the following schools to get to 10 or 12? - SMU - UCF - UH - ECU - Tulsa? Now obviously if half our conf is pillaged, we have no choice but to accept if invited. And it is stronger than CUSA, but I'm not sure of its long term AQ status and it could get hit hard again if ACC needs to back fill from a SEC plunder. I'm not sure how likely it is, but I think this is the most realistic scenario for SMU in the immediate future if a big shift happens. #NewLobCity
Re: Would we Accept a Big East Invite
pretty good conference, with 2 6-team divisions.
Re: Would we Accept a Big East InviteWhere would Rice and Tulane go?
Re: Would we Accept a Big East Invite
they can help UTEP, TxState, and UTSA revive the WAC
Re: Would we Accept a Big East Invite
I'm hoping Turner's first call after meeting with the DMN editorial board was to give our condolences on ending the block of 3 pact we seem to have embraced the last 20 years. I would take Tulane in a heart beat though because I love that road trip. I'm all for signing a lifetime contract for one OOC game each season. #NewLobCity
Re: Would we Accept a Big East InviteWhat! you would rather go to NO than Denton or San Antonio???

Re: Would we Accept a Big East InviteWe should, and I hope would, accept any invitation from any AQ conferece. Even if we went Big East and it exploded after 2 years, we'd still have millions and millions of dollars we wouldn't have otherwise, and two years of AQ recruiting and media exposure.
"I think Couchem is right."

Re: Would we Accept a Big East InviteOf course we would. Playing in the Big East would give us AQ status for possible bowl games and would print money during basketball season.
I assume the only way SMU would decline a Big East invitation would be if we also got a Big 12 invitation. Right or wrong, football governs everything in conference realignment talk. That's hard to imagine, but if it does, I would hope President Turner gets up in front of microphones and cameras and says something like, "we want to play in a conference where the big boys are teams like Oklahoma, not TCU."
Re: Would we Accept a Big East Inviteboth conferences seem somewhat unstable right now, but of course we would accept either invite. In the words of Drew Rosenhouse, "next question"...
Re: Would we Accept a Big East InviteMove on- nothing to accept here (yet).

Re: Would we Accept a Big East Inviteor ever....
big east will not be calling...
Re: Would we Accept a Big East InviteWe are in CUSA for at least 2 more years until the big change to 16 team conferences happens. Turner and Orsini and setting us (rightfully) for that change.
Re: Would we Accept a Big East InviteAt this point we would accept an invite into any BCS conference. I suspect that, despite their past denials that they are interested in expansion, that the Big East would be the most likely place for us if we do move up. As long as UT runs the Big 12 I don't see us getting an invite there.
Re: Would we Accept a Big East InviteIt would fit well with the TCU move but I am not sure they wouldn't add cougar high first.
GO PONIES!!!
