http://texas.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1257714A&M will announce their leaving Tuesday. Also, ND has no interest, as a result Pitt doesn't either. Still hoping for the Hogs.

Didn't Orangebloods claim this a few weeks ago?

Will be interesting to see who ends up taking their place. I'm at 100% confidence that it won't be us, but most likely not Houston either.
Hail to the Mormons.

Wonder if the Big 12 will just stay at 9 if all of their pie in the sky teams say no.

Hey, I was wrong about TCU to the Big East so what the hell do I know, but I still don't think BYU takes the bait. I sincerely believe they intend to give going independent a legitimate shot. Now maybe several years down the line if it isn't going the way they planned they can join another conference, but I think the Big 12 is too much of a house of cards for BYU. I think they will pass.

Why don't they just change the name to the Longhorn Conference

CoxMustangFan,
You could be right. I understand there isn't much to be lost on BYU's end, but I think they now view themselves as an independent and want to operate as such. They haven't even given it a shot yet. Everything I've read out of Provo is that they are lukewarm at best about joining the Big 12. If it was the slam dunk everyone thinks it is I would think there would be more positive vibes coming out from BYU. Granted most of this stuff is done behind closed doors, but there hasn't really been any indication at all that BYU has any interest in joining a conference, let alone the house of cards that is the Big 12.

Longhorns destroyed the Southwest Conference and now they're doing it to the Big 12.

One thing for sure is the big 12 has to have at least 10 teams or they are in violation of their TV contract. So they have to take at least one more team with ATM leaving. Look for them to take someone soon.

Why did Arkansas jump at that time? I can't remember.

Aggies, Razorbacks, and even we had a hand in that one. Remember, A&M was about to bolt to the SEC back in the early 90s (and Texas to the Pac-10).
