Too bad...I hope he gets picked up somewhere else, even for a practice squad.

I would guess that he does not have many chances left. Hopefully, he has the right agent who can stir up some interest elsewhere, but that may be a reach at this stage of his limited career.

And if all else fails he has that smu degree to help him for the rest of his life after his studies at "the U" and SMU! Thank goodness he wasn't just "used" for his fantastic athletic abilities at these great institutions.

Kinda harsh to cut a guy with only two preseason carries (one for 1, one for 4 yards)in 2011 and seven carries last year. Still, Shawnbrey doesn't really fit San Diego's FB-turned-RB backfield profile so if he didn't show surprising wiggle or speed (his career long with the Chargers if 5 yards), he didn't really have a chance.

Harsh to cut someone who does not get many touches? Help me understand your logic. They evaluate them all in practice and the guys who the coaches judge to be worthy of playing time are the ones who get the touches in games. I am not disrespecting Shawnbrey, and I certainly wish him the best, just trying to understand what you meant. Someone posted something similar about AR only having 1 or 2 passes thrown to him in preseason and implied it was not a fair shake, so I am trying to understand the mindset.

The Chargers are the team I support and in camp and on last year's practice squad all you heard were very positive things about Shawnbrey. You heard better things about Todman but all positives about McNeal, particularly his excellent hands. They liked him, they signed him, but ultimately didn't put him into position to prove/disprove himself. Little time in games 1&2. Good blocking when in, open for a couple of passes but not thrown to. My "harsh" comment was that he wasn't able to display and test against NFL teams all the things that they had like in him in practice.
