I was reading Dan Wetzels article and thought maybe this would be good for us. http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/n ... tcu_083011If the SEC were to take two teams from Texas, including one from DFW, I think the Big 12 would have to shore up Texas as well as specifically Dallas. Maybe then the Big 12 also decides to go to 14, and takes a Houston and SMU in the old South to shore up Texas, and a BYU, Air Force, Boise in the North? Its kind of spread out but competitive. The new members may have to agree to less revenue then current members, but less in the Big 12 would still probably be more then they get now. Cant imagine we get much of anything from Conf USA.... Thoughts?

I agree. If they took TCU AND UT wanted to keep the B12 together it makes absolute sense to solidify the Dallas market as well as Houston. That would also open us up for the possibility of going east, not high on my priority list, to replace TCU.
With that said, UT would probably want to make a huge push for TCU's inclusion into the B12 to avoid that issue and advantages that would provide TCU. Better to have them in the same conference where you can keep tabs on them.

TCU is a gem right now. TCU has definitely proven it can complete with the big boys. IF TCU feels the Big East will hold together, they would be better off staying there. TCU could dominate in that conference for years. Big BSC payouts and great TV audience potentials. IF the Big East isn’t a stable conference, then TCU should be looking to make itself attractive to the SEC or PAC X+II. Regardless, TCU looks like a good conference mate for any BSC conference at this time. More so than Boise because of the Texas market.

Does it cost TCU anything at this point to not join BE? I would think so.

What would really be funny is if UT took TCU with them to the PAC and left TT holding the cow chips.

yep, or us. Why would UCLA or Arizona want to play at Lubbock? Worthless. Would think the Pac10 would rather showcase themselves in Dallas. Plus, as we always hear, UT delivers the Texas market anyway so why do they need Tech? Might as well take better market, location and academics. But in the end i suppose UT will have to advocate for Tech because its public and the PAC probably will go along with it. On the other end, I dont see UT advocating for Utep, so maybe the public school thing is overrated.

If you had to choose what would be best for SMU, would you go SEC or PAC?

First, let's talk about whether or not I should buy a Ferrari or a Lamborghini, and then if I'm better off with a private island in the Pacific or in the Atlantic. Both are equally as likely as SMU going to one of those conferences.

Wouldn't is be ironic and humorous if TCU started in the BE and then the BE lost AQ status? Guess we could always accept them in CUSA. GO PONIES!!!

Not trying to hate on TCU, but TCU has a long way to go before it "proves" it can play with the big boys. A couple of wins with Senior/Junior laded teams after playing very weak conference games doesn't scream long-term success. If TCU is smart they'll sit tight in the BE as they can do some real damage (in football) up there. Especially if Pitt and Wva bolts, as expected. Only problem is the may lose their BCS status...
Success is relative to resources. If TCU was not a small private they'd be a huge commodity right now.

Cox- not sure I agree. Their schedule is not really a killer. Besides, who would be there to take them- B10, PAC, SEC. - I doubt it. I think the 'big shakeout' is going to happen sooner than people realize. I just hope we get included.

After we beat A$M, TCU's shedule will look tough. If we win, it helps us and TCU.
