Seems he kind of took a pot shot at us.

"we're not going to stand on any street corner and wave any flag."

To me, it's a zero lost scenario. We don't get invited? It's a pat on the head and tons of publicity for your school. You get in? Here comes money, prestige, recruitment inroads, interest boost, enrollment application increase, donation increase...

Glad we're being loud. Say it enough and people will start to believe it.

We don't get in......next round of expansion talk people and media will say "almost got in" or "was considered", even if it isn't accurate. Smart move.

If I was at UH I wouldn't stand on a street corner period, let alone wave a flag.....

Thought you were Mitch for a second.

Being silent leads to getting left behind. Too bad Rice cannot join the Ivy League. That's where they belong.

so you adjust and you control the things that you can control."

SMU is controlling the narrative and rice will be left in the dust. We may too, but message is everything. Not being in the conversation is not being in the picture. Until we made noise we were in the position Rice is in now. We have changed the conversation.

As I understand it, many UH co-eds do stand on street corners, or in front of 7/11's, and wave or shake something else.

In this day and age, its be silent and be left behind. Even if SMU doesn't get into the big 12, this entire football season every time they mention possible Big 12 expansion they are going to mention SMU. Any hs fb player following Big 12 schools that has not heard of us will hear our name. Being out in the front is way better than being forgotten. Look at how Oregon used new out there uniforms and player centric facilities to turn a mediocre program to a national contender. Some people hated their jerseys, others liked them. But it didn't matter, they caught players attention and where able to get players from across the country to come to Oregon.

Rice isn't because they don't stand a chance, and coog high couldn't figure out how to spell campaign.
