Cornerback

Chris Castro on the two deep? Huh? Have we really not recruited anyone else? Hopefully Acker missing practice due to illness is nothing and he is ready to go.
Is Keith Robinson hurt?

Being that there was a really high correlation last year between Losses and Sterling Moore being out, I would have thought we would have at least found 1 JUCO cb that we thought would qualify

I think we recruited some really top quality freshmen CBs this year, but man it is almost impossible to get one ready to go for your first game much less against aTm. I'm sure Acker will be fine, but this is why I kept saying last fall that we needed to recruit at least two quality JUCO guys also to provide depth and have some quality athletes at the position that have played at a level higher than high school. I mean, unless you have a freshman who by chance is really ready to go, it makes no sense to go into a season with no depth at a position like CB.

Seems like this has been an ongoing problem since JJ got here. Hard to understand why.

We will be fine. We have Parks who I think will be a good one. Acker will do well, and we have some good freshmen. We are better overall at corner than we have been in a while. We will miss Moore, but I think we will be fine especially with the rush I expect us to have from the front 7.

I think that was a nod to Castro being a senior. Robinson and JR Richardson are ahead of him right now, I think Castro is actually 5 on the depth chart.

I was pleasantly surprised to read that Acker was 6' tall. For some reason I thought he was a couple inches shorter last year. The good news for Acker was that even when he got beat earlier in the season, he always seemed to be in step with the receiver, he just didn't get turned around in time to make a play. I think we will be in better shape than last year, although I know that isn't saying a whole lot.

we brought in 2 corners in 09 who are no longer with the team, gamble and Mcconico, which is why we are still young at the position with acker starting in just his second year and parks on the two deep also in his second year.

I'd like to have seen us brin in another Juco to compete at the spot but I trust the coaches like what they have and the transfer from Nebraska should provide depth and competition for a spot when Crawford graduates.
