This pretty much means everyone else has said no. I take this as our chances are increasing.

I've thought all along BYU and Air Force would be the top 2 legit targets. If one or both decline, MAYBE we have a chance. I still think Colorado State might be up there too.
Big 12 is a longshot. I like that we're positioning and marketing ourselves, but we aren't going to move up overnight.

at this point we just have to win and not worry about it. As fans we have zero control over any of this so why get all worked up about it. We'll have to wait for our chance.

I'm not into thinking logically. Just let me have my pipe-dream.

Face the facts...UT runs the B12 and UT doesn't want any part of SMU. They will probably invite Texas State before they would invite us. I say give the SEC a call...what the hell...the worst thing that could happen is they will say no. Nothing ventured nothing gained.

Agreed. SMU fans have to be praying that they'll find at least one sucker that will duct tape this ship together for another two years. In the mean time, it's petal to the metal for SMU: facilities, recruiting, marketing, winning, etc. They have to finish putting together a resume that will get a BCS job -- not drafting board promises and a faint heartbeat on the football field. SMU will get there!!!!
Agree 100%. It's football season!!!! Let's drink some beer and have some fun!
Go Ponies!!!!

You just nailed it - PK. TU wants nothing to do with us. Now or in the future.
They & everyone else knows that given the opportunity, given the backing of the administration, SMU 'will' grow into a major force within the conference & nationally - in other words - a major power.
Look at history. Everytime the administration backed athletics, we were a force to reckon with. So with that in mind, I can understand why the lil 12, in particular TU, is somewhat hesitant in wanting us.
Only God knows what will happen.

Put our pitch to the Pac 12. After welcoming us, Texas, OU and OSU can ditch TTU as well as Baylor.

http://www.macon.com/2011/09/01/1687169 ... y-lie.htmlTexas A&M had an opportunity to join Texas in a network partnership some four years ago but turned down the Longhorns, Dodds said.
"Nobody seemed concerned with it until it was done," Dodds said. "I find it interesting that it's a problem today. If somebody is surprised by this deal, they haven't been paying attention."

AFA Falcons only make sense, if they join along with BYU. The pair of national, MT Zone universities make a good regional combination for the Big 12. Now at 11, Big 12 adds one more and they appear stronger for media and recover their annual Championship game. My question is 'who is number 12'? Going beyond 12 only occurs if super conferences really happen. In any case, UT/OK remain in control of their destinies with the Big 12 and their own regional partners in Texas, OK, Kansas and Missouri.

This article weighs the options for the most likely new member.
http://www.athlonsports.com/college-foo ... candidatesI think the Big 12 (leadership by UT/OK is critical) will decision immediately for three: BYU, Air Force and either SMU or Houston. And, I like our chances with this decision. Besides you gain access to UT and CO and establish a traveling epicenter for all Big 12 sports in Big D, where all members and their fans love to visit.
BTW, ND, Pittsburgh, Louisville, Arkansas, etc. won't happen. Razorbacks won't want to leave the strongest conference, ND has independence in its DNA and the others make no sense geograhically (and have BCS AQ status today), so no advantage for them.
