Do we actually stand a chance with the Big XII?

So the last two weeks or so has been full of activity. We are creating the right kind of buzz around our program, we have Aikman backing us up, our name is being mentioned all over the airwaves and on ESPN. But is it all for nothing? I understand that even we if don't get into the Big XII, all this buzz we've created can only be a good thing going forward. But do we realistically think we can get into the Big XII when all news coming from the conference seems to be a resounding "no?"

edit - this is all under the assumption that the Big XII somehow decides to stay together for at least a few more years.

We were and will continue to be a long shot. Do we have a chance? Yes. Is it likely, doubtful. Is the pub great? If we win, definitely yes.

The goal is AQ and the Big 12 is just one shot we're taking.

It all depends on what they are looking for. If they are looking to add at least three teams, then, yes, we have a shot. If it's just one, then no, I would say we don't.

But if OU leaves, all bets are off.

I understand that SO has been careful to puts things in terms of wanting in an AQ conference, but it has been interpreted everywhere as wanting in the Big12. My concern is that when the Big12 folds we become a big joke again due to our public campaign.

Therein lies the rub. I wonder if the Big XII feels compelled to expand back to 12 teams or not.

They know they will ultimately need to expand to either 16 or 20 to survive.

My thought is that the Big 12 is dead or dying. Either Oklahoma, Texas or Missouri will pull the trigger on the kill shot, whoever makes the next move. The Pac 12 gets to Cherry pick first from the Big 12 followed by the Big East. The Big losers in this round of realigment are Texas Tech, Baylor and Iowa State. (Maybe Texas Tech gets into the Big East. I don't see the Sand Aggies going to the Pac 12).

The Unstable Big 12 is probably not the best AQ to be courting right now but they are the only one in need of a team to stop the hemorrhage of 3 lost teams.

All being said this is a great dress rehearsal for the big dance and the free publicity is a Thad-send as it were.

Does anyone believe this media attention would have ever occurred without the serendipity of events (JJ, winning, NCAA teams whacked like flies, scandal,...) and the release of "PONY EXCE$$"?

Let's be grateful for all the discussion and just keep winning!

Texas will never let us in the Big 12. They know we can rise quickly and beat their a-- as we have done previously as us Grey Hairs can tell you. They are scared of us if you want the real truth. That sounds ridiculous but it is true. They have had us where they have wanted us for 20+yrs and they want to keep us there.
The citizens of Dallas should be mad as hell as we watch the Big 12 games; raise their ratings and they get big $$ but don't have a team in Dallas that can bring tax dollars and business to help the City. It is a one way street.

I have to agree. Now the we are on a somewhat level playing field with our admissions standards for recruiting we would be a serious threat in a short period of time. They know what we can do.

Grey Hair - you're absolutely correct! In a way, it's quite simple.

On another note, I remember what SO said in that the lil12 TV ratings weren't any better than the SEC's (Satan's Evil Conference) with no Texas team. LOL!!!

Sorry, but that is laughable.
