Question for Hawaii / JJ Fans on QB useage

Know there are some on this board that have been following JJ for a long time.

He has done the benching of the starter thing before (a number of times) and used multiple QBs throughout the season.

From his previous track record - What can we expect next?

Back to Padron?
A full fledged, ongoig QB battle for the rest of the year?
Something else?

Just curious to hear from those who know a bit more about JJ's history...

It appeared to me Jones was pushing Kyle Padron with McDermot during preseason because of a lack of trust in Padron from his failures last season.

Padron spelled it out in CAPITOL LETTERS in the first five minutes what he was going to deliver AGAIN.

McDermot was calm, not riggid or intimidated, proved he could move the ball. He showed potential and did not EMBARRAS Jones like Padron has for the last year or more.

Padron LOST the job he was barely holding. McDermot seemed to have the confidence of the team upon his takeover and things clicked for awhile.

Padron did not sing the school song. Some on this board detest quitters. It did not impress Jones I am sure.

McDermot will START and if he continues to show promise Padron will have to make the decision to either accept the coaches decision and SING or catch a plane to Eastern Washington and backup Bo Levi Mitchel.

I think you need look no further than what he did and how he handled BLM... once BLM went out and Padron stepped in and played well, he turned his back on BLM for good. I believe that if McDermott starts this week and plays well, he will stick w/ him.

During that first year here, Jones shocked me that he stuck w/ BLM for so long. And when the interceptions cost them a couple of games the following year, I knew it was a matter of time. As far as McDermott being a Senior, don't worry about that. If he gives them the best chance to win, that's who he'll go with.

I still think Kyle starts against UTEP. JJ did a good job getting some early momentum, and I think he was put in to calm Padron down. You go with the guy who is producing and JJ did for a while. Then things kind of stalled, and I was surprised that JJ stayed in. Really expected to see Kyle start the 4th since the 3rd quarter was such a disaster on both sides of the ball. Kyle needs to have a solid practice week and be given the chance to come out strong next Saturday. It is nice to see that JJ can pick up the slack, but I just don't see him as a starting QB.

I say KP starts and gets a longer leash. I honestly thought he'd be back to start the second half.

Here's the deal with Jones and his QB's. If Jones talks a good game about one of his QB's or compares him to some NFL guy he coached, Jones will stick with this guy until hell freezes over.

Jones is more about backing up what he says about his players. The words that come out of his mouth is what motivates him in his decisions making. He will try and prove himself right no matter what it takes.

It's unknown to me on what he has said about Patron. If Jones hyped him Patron prior to the season, expect Patron to return as the starter.

In all the years at Hawaii, I can't remember one instance where Jones changed starting QB's due to lack of performance. I've seen him pull a couple starters mid-game due to lack of performance but always went back to "his" guy for the next game. He replaced starting QB's before but it was always due to injuries.

Well it's official, JJ is going with JJ as the starter for the UTEP game.
