Who should be the starting QB for SMU against UTEP?

Padron threw for almost 4k yards last year. If he gets his head right with ball, he has more upside than JJ. I was all for pulling Kyle last night, and appreciate having a backup like JJ, but Padron should be the starter.

I think you give Kyle another shot to prove he is the starter everyone thought he was. You don't bag a top 10 QB in the country last year because of two crappy series against a team and situation in which he was way outmatched. JJ did well filling in, but it felt like relief work from a backup to me, not the dawning of a new starter. That said, if Kyle struggles again at the start of UTEP, throw his butt on the bench. At least we now know we have options.

Who should start? At the risk of sounding obvious, it should be the guy who looks best in practice -- this week and every week.

Padron, plain and simple. He had two awful series, but a good week of practice to get his confidence back and trust back with team mates should make him a starter. He gives us the best chance to win. UTEP is worse than us and it's a home opener so the pressure to be a Heisman QB week 1 should be off. June will probably work in some confidence throws early on to get his groove back.

you have to put KP in or risk screwing his confidence forever. plus, i think he has the higher upside. yeah, JJ played his [deleted] off, but this is still kyle's team.

He had 2 bad throws out of 4. Most of the time they are incompletes. This time they were ints.

He didn't even get a chance to settle down, in front of the largest home opener in aggie football history.

If the line is real, he's got three games to get his rhythm back and even get big enough leads that jj can get some real pt.

I think we can win all 3 w jj, but we are in for a 5-7 , 6-6 season if we stick to him
