with good reason to be; gotta believe that if/when the SEC raids the ACC for another eastern member, the ACC will raid the Big East. Not good for TCU who could find themselves with Baylor looking for a home

He should be. It was a stupid decision and it's almost guaranteed to come back to haunt them. It's almost a guaranteed disaster, but that's what they get for having a couple of good seasons and selling their soul to go to a basketball conference.

Maybe it will come back to bite them, but if we were in their position we would have made the move 10 times out of 10.

I wouldn't go so far as saying it was a bad move at the time; TCU probably thought they could become the next Miami of the Big East...and just as Miami bolted for the ACC, TCU might someday rejoin Texas and A$M in the Big XII. Oh well...seemed like a good idea at the time

Not really.
They MAY get one BCS bowl if the Big East can stay together for 2012 - but that's a reach because TCU is definitely not good enough to run the Big East like they could run the MWC.
Which, granted is some decent money, but long term it isn't any better than where we are - and probably worse than where we are.

TCU's move to Original CUSA when they departed the WAC for greener pastures:
"Wouldn't it be great to be in a conference with Louisville and Cincy?"
TCU's move to MWC when they departed CUSA for greener pastures:
"Wouldn't it be great to be in a conference with BYU and Utah?"

Let's see, they get likely a few years of BCS money, east coast media exposure, and association with BCS to up the recruiting credibility and program stature. If the BE falls apart, every AQ conference will be chomping at the bit to take a program of that prestige, in DFW, with BCS credits.
What exactly is bad about that move?

Those that think TCU to the Big East was a bad move are delusional. Really, were they suppose to stick around in the MWC when BYU and Utah bolted? They will in a better position to picked up by a power conference should the Big East break up as compared with us or any other school currently on the outside looking in.

CoxMustangFan wrote:The problem is they have burned their bridge to re-join the MWC and it's hard to say whether they would be accepted into CUSA given politics. I would hope SMU would welcome them (as I hope TCU would welcome SMU), but you never know. I agree though, it was worth the risk for TCU to head to the BE (assuming they can pay to send their teams out there).
No way. If the BE blew up the MWC would take them in a second to try to get AQ status. They would be idiots not to - get left out in the next round or two of realignment and you are basically DI-AA. TCU could walk right back in.
