No one knows how many dominoes will fall or where, but there is hand-wringing going on at TCU and other institutions that fear becoming victims, or outcasts, of a super-conference era when the dust finally settles.

"The uneasiness is we don't know what everyone's going to do," Del Conte said. "Say there's five remaining schools in the Big 12. Where do they go? Everyone is nervous because everyone is trying to figure the puzzle out and only a few teams hold the cards. Everyone else is at the table with no cards. They're just waiting to be dealt their hand."

Couldn't have said it any better. This whole realignment thing is totally insane. Its completely Darwinian. There are about 5 players who hold all the cards and everyone elso will just have to accept whatever crumbs get thrown their way. It's all about momentum at this point. There appears to be absolutely no thoughtful consideration of the long-term consequences of these moves. There are going to be a lot of unhappy marriages that come out of this, which will only lead to further instability in the future.

Totally insane.

To add to that, ESPN probably holds the best hand. I've come to loath that network and feel they are not looking out for the best interest in sports, just the bottom line. Which I respect, but has the potential to ruin college football.

as much as deadspin is a playground for teenage humor they do a great job exposing the massive hypocrisies at ESPN and their ever growing web of conflicted interested

my recent favorite was the bruce feldman assassination

I actually think TCU is not in as bad a position as he thinks. I have to give the Big East credit - they have always been aggressive when it comes to securing their own future. Don't be surprised if they continue to make aggresive moves to swallow up the Big 12 leftovers and make a western division for TCU to play in.

that is very likely scenario...

I put it out there a month ago that mizzu and kansas were already in talks with big east and were interested in moving before the A&M story started,,,

You may be closer to the truth than you think. If the big bevo dissolves, BE seems ready to take a combination/all of KU, KSU, ISU and Mizz. That would be followed with UH, SMU and maybe UCF. If Mizz and / or KU go elsewhere, the BE would rest at 14.

Baylor has no home in this scenario. The BE has a major hardon for TV markets and they don't register.

I said it in another post. GAG ME! I'd love for SMU to join up with TCU in the BE but playing ISU, KU, and KSU on top of some of the other BE schools do not cause my heart to flutter. I'd be ecstatic to be in an AQ conference but I'll be honest that's an ugly conference.

Sounds like they would break off the BBall only schools. GTown and Nova would come along since they play FCS.

Seriously? Rank the teams in CUSA you would whether play? ECU? Tulsa? I understand ISU but they are AAU and a solid midwest draw along with the Kansas schools.
