Houston was a member of the now-defunct Southwest Conference, along with current Big 12 members Baylor, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas, Texas Tech and Texas A&M.

Oklahoma and Oklahoma State were not members of the SWC. More bad journalism.

Actually they were. Oklahoma from 1915-1919 and Oklahoma State from 1915-1925.

Of SMU, the espn piece said, in part:

SMU ... boasts of having about 40,000 alumni living in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Is there a figure - or estimate - I have not seen for the actual percentage of alums attending SMU games held in the Metroplex for the last several years?

Is that percentage changing and if so, how?
