Should we be writing emails to T. Boone urging him to include SMU, Houston, and TCU/BYU in the Big 12? On ESPN last night he said he is lobbying for the Big 12 to stay together, SHARE, and expand. Probably carries some big clout. What do you think?

Protip: T Boone doesn't give two gelding turds about SMU.

It's a nice idea, but T Boone sees SMU as a stable for his wife's geldings and nothing more. The idea that he is on our side is unfortunately completely inaccurate. OK Liberty & Justice (or whatever the heck their names are), off to the glue factory with you!

most effective would be to have June talk to Madeline and make SMU another pet project of hers so that she will assail T Boone with requests, demands and desire about SMU and he'll have no choice

I understand they're not Peruna, but the "glue factory" jokes are still pretty shocking and embarrassing. It's not like they did anything to anyone.
I think RGV is right: Madeline might be the key here. If she and Coach Jones are buddies, that might be the route to go. If his wife is anything like mine, she can be awfully persuasive. Will that change where he puts his money? No. that's going to Oklahoma State. But he has some pull, and she can influence him to some degree, I bet.
With the Big 12 looking shakier every day, I think we need to find another BCS destination. It's no coincidence, I assume, that organization changed its web address from SMU2B12.com to SMU2BCS.com. Sounds like they have little faith in the Big 12, too.

Why would a guy want to donate any of his billions to anyone with that attitude? I don't think he is an SMU alumnus(OSU). If I am a big hitter I am looking for good causes and causes I can feel good about being a part of...maybe it helps me at the "pearly gates". I am not giving to beggars who just want handouts.I am sure SMU has many wonderful people, both large and small contributors, who are passsionate about all things SMU and rightly so!

OK, I admit that I perhaps went a bit too far with the "glue factory" comment, and certainly did not mean to offend anyone. I also don't want this thread to get off topic, and the point of it is that T. Boone Pickens has shown no interest whatsoever in throwing his weight behind SMU's current aspirations. His wife, perhaps, could provide some influence, but T. Boone Pickens is an OSU institution, and that is where his loyalties will always lie. He seems to be going out of his way to NOT mention SMU as a school that is viable for the Big 12, so don't know if an email campaign would be real effective.

Even if T-Boone were to support SMU, and I agree that he doesn't, I'm not sure what we're expecting him to accomplish. T-Boone has power at OSU, but OSU has zero power in the Big-12. If OU and Texas want SMU (or anyone else) to join, then we're in. Otherwise, forget it. I've never heard that T-Boone has any influence with DeLoss Dodds or the folks at OU.

If you don't believe that T-Boone has relevent power to influence SMU2B12 outside of OSU, I think that you are mistaken. He has a lot of Power in Austin - and I don't mean with DeLoss Dodds - but with those that people like DeLoss ultimately report to including the Governor.

Doesn't T. Boone live in Highland Park? I bet Boone would like to see Oklahome State play at Ford Stadium, of course at his age not sure how many he would end up seeing in person.

Actually, that's a valid point. I hadn't thought of it that way.
