No sense of desperation in the Pac-12-Big 12 case, commissioner says

"In fact, our hope is that there is no expansion and all conferences that are 12 stay at 12."

Pac-12 won't expand, I've been preaching this on here for weeks, if not months. They're perfectly happy where they're at. Remember, this conference didn't even have a basketball tournament until a few years ago. Things move slow in the Pac-12 and the move to 12 was a pretty drastic one for them- Cal,Stanford and the like weren't thrilled about bringing in Utah this time, so what makes ya'll think they'll take the likes of Tech and OSU with open arms? Larry Scott is a very proactive commissioner (look what he's doing with their TV rights) but that conference will stay at 12 for the foreseeable future.

They're just waiting to get the financial numbers right.

They have no problem with OSU or Texas Tech. They'll take them.

Nope...they have this enormous academic pride out there...is a really tough fit with OSU or TT...or OU for that matter. They think they are the west coast ivy league..

I agree. They already have WSU and OSU. Neither Colorado or Utah are setting the world on fire academically.

For those of you that think academics is a problem for OU, OSU, & TT going to the Pac12 you are kidding yourselves. When the money is right the Pac 12 press release will read that one reason they took them is is the great academic tradition those schools bring to the conference.

They have a $3 Billion TV deal AND they are doing their own Pac 12 Network next year...they aren't worried about the money folks. You can talk about Oregon State or WSU academics etc, but try getting your kids into UCLA, USC, Washington, Stanford or California....they are tough schools and those institutions don't want any dumbing down of the conference. ASU and Arizona were a natural location-wise, but it took many years before they were accepted. ANYone can get into TT or OSU, so don't compare those records. Besides why in the world add a potential trip to Lubbock, TX and/or Stillwater, Oklahoma from the beautiful west coast?
If the other conferences go to 16 teams, then its in play, but I don't see them jumping out first, unless UT leads the charge and revamps their TV Network to some kind of sharing deal.
