Special Teams was just awfulMy apologies to Dennis McKnight. I thought we were bad when you were here but we are much worse now.
Re: Special Teams was just awfulKick Off Coverage team was very poor...Matt Stone and the punt team looked pretty good.
Re: Special Teams was just awfulit starts with the kicker. We may never see the end zone with a kick. Every high school team in texas has a guy that kicks into the end zone.
Re: Special Teams was just awfulThe Friggin Garland Owls have one who can split the uprights.
Re: Special Teams was just awfulI think you forget we blocked a field goal on special teams. Not every part was bad.
Re: Special Teams was just awfulI was thankful UTEP ran it back to the 50 every kickoff so I could see the action up close.
Re: Special Teams was just awfulkickoff coverage was terrrr-ble
SMU-12 NCAA appearances, 1 Final Four
2014-15 & 2016-17 AAC Men's Basketball Champs
Special Teams was just awfulI do not recall anyone muffing a punt or three tonight, I would not beg McKnight to come back just yet...

Re: Special Teams was just awfuli took this thread seriously until someone said matt stone looked good.
Re: Special Teams was just awfulRoughing the kicker sucked
Re: Special Teams was just awfulinconsistent but credit the block and that last punt that nailed UTEP and their FR QB down near their goal line as big plays in this game

Re: Special Teams was just awfulConsidering every high school kicker starts from the 40 yard line? To compare our kickers with high school kickers is dumb. Plus, you have to also put into consideration the height of the ball when our kickers do the kickoff. Though, I think we should have more directional kickoffs.
Re: Special Teams was just awful
I didn't know Dennis McKnight ever lined up on special teams.
Re: Special Teams was just awfulMy Grandson has kicked 8 of his last 9 out of the back of the endzone. 2 would have been fieldgoals if they hadn't been kickoffs. His other went 5 yds deep and they ran it out a few yards. I don't know about the comment on the kicking tee. He is using the one that OU said he needed to use when he was at their camp.
One thing that is very hard for us to see watching the games is the timing from the deep snapper, holder, and kicker. If the holder misses his spot or doesn't get the seams right, you have a problem. Good kicking coaches have the kicker in motion when the deep snapper clinches his arms and hands for the snap. Can't hesitate as 260lb plus guys are in on you in 1 1/2 second. Thanks Lake Highland Pony Papaw
