Does anyone think that the recent QB play as well as the apparent strong commitment from Printz increases the likelyhood that his redshirt gets burned this year?

If so, seems like Northwestern would be an ideal time to get him some game experience.

I still think we'll see Padron come roaring back.

Look, the plan was to get Kyle a lot more PT tonight, but as June said the game just never allowed it to happen.

didn't hear it, why didn't the game allow it to happen? Dont understand why he couldn't have gotten a full series at least at some point.

I hope Jones isn't planning on making redshirt decisions based on the non-binding commitment of a player made 17 months before the player can sign any official binding document.

Right...let's hope he's more sensible than 95% of the posters on Ponyfans.com. I've heard more rational thinking from groups of 20-something women talking about the Bachelor.

Also...I don't know if anyone else noticed when then were together on the sidelines, but CP is a full 5-6 inches shorter than both Padron and Kaiser. He could be the guy to get it done, but it's not likely that he's the long term answer at QB in any way....and he's definitely not the answer at any point during 2011.

I used to think he was but some of his decisions the last few games have left me wondering.

Jones sent in Padron in the second half but it was on the series that UTEP killed a punt on about the 2 yard line. He pulled Padron and put JJM back in before we ran a play. I imagine he thought it a little tough to put a fragile minded QB in under those circumstances. That is all I can imagine. Padron was fired up running on the field. Next thing I knew, JJM was in.

Have you guys noticed how well the WRs that Preston threw to in high school are playing in college? Richardson at CU had almost 300 yards recieving today, Farmer at USC had almost 200 yards last week and over 100 this week, Lee is starting at USC as a true freshman.....not to mention Farmer, a five star freshman at USC is redshirting at Richardson at Arizona is starting at corner......WOW....that is some talent to throw to in high schoo!!!!!

I agree. I don't think we have seen the last of Padron, by any means.

No way you burn the Preston redshirt based on the Printz commitment. It's a year and half until signing day, so anything could happen, but we also have two veteran QBs who should get every snap this year. Preston didn't even dress tonight, did he?

You do realize don't you that JJones is entering his 4th season as HC of SMU.

Forget about simply playing Conner Preston, if he were to START Conner Preston, it would be the 3rd time in his four years here that he started a true Freshman QB.

So given JJ's past, as crazy as it might seem to a lot of people, myself included, it is not unimaginable to think Conner would see playing time this year.

To me, a big criticism so far of the JJ regime. 4 years and nothing to show for this position.

JJ made another comment tonight, just like last week , that the game didn't allow for KP to get back int he game even though he had planned on it. I am worried JJmc is not our guy and KP needs the playing time.

When would have been a better time? Should have played more than 2 running plays.
