The Pass Interference call

Postby SMU21TCU10 » Sun Sep 11, 2011 1:29 am

Any chance someone can post that play? The UTEP wr ran and tackled our DB and we got called. Worst call ever

I thought our DB was the WR and they should have called interference on the WR going over his back. He never looked for the ball though

Already deleted the game from my DVR, unfortunately, but yes, their guy went over Victor Jones' back, and we got called for it.

I bet that you can catch a re-run of the game later this week. I think the game vs. A&M was on at least 3 times this past week.

On a related note, the roughing the kicker call earlier in that drive was correct. Although, he didn't hit the guy's foot very hard, so I guess you could argue that it should have just been running into the kicker, which would have only been 5 yards and not an automatic 1st down.

It is a bit hard to tell some of these things because the Fox camera-work was terrible. The angles weren't great, or they didn't follow the play very well, or they weren't zoomed in well enough, or all of the above. Granted, I know this is probably like their next to last crew working this game, and they aren't going to have 85 cameras capturing everything about the game like they do on the prime games, but it was pretty bad overall.

looked like a bad call to me; my guess is that the official did not feel Jones was aware of the ball coming and was just blocking the receiver

ah....now, there's a thought that could have legs. if we get jobbed in the next couple of conference games, it'll sure look like it.

That may have been the worst call I've ever seen in the history of ever. It was so bad that there HAD to have been some ulterior motive for the call. There is a 0% chance that that ref saw anything justifying a penalty on Jones. He made a decision to throw a flag based on something else. We need to do an investigation on this guy and get his @ss out of college football. Sounds like a crazy statement, but if you saw the replay, it was just a completely indefensible call and not even a junior high ref would have made that call 100 times out of 100.

maybe our half-pint ref saw something different from his lower angle...

What makes it completely indefensible is that their receiver was trailing Jones, who had his back to the receiver... it was just totally inarguable.

Since it was on the other side of the field did Victor push off before hence how he got the separation that he did? Agree the replay made the ref look stupid. Had to be something else or we are being put in our place for trying to go to the BCS.

I thought he called it on the 'push off' to get the separation, when I saw the replay at the game.

I thought it was a horrible call as well. I suspect that if, after reviewing the play JJ feels it was a truly bad call then he will send a copy with a protest to the league office. It could prevent that official from doing any more of our games.
