SMU won its C-USA opener for the 3rd straight year

SMU is 13-4 in its last 17 C-USA games

SMU had 6 sacks, the most by SMU under June Jones (previous was 5 against Marshall in 2010)

INDIVIDUAL HIGHLIGHT

Ja’Gared Davis (LB) (Rotary Lombardi Award watch list)
- Sealed the win for SMU with a TD at 2:39 of the 4th quarter. He had the forced fumble and recovery on the play. He now has 3 career TDs.
- Had 1 forced fumble, the 4th of his career
- Had 1 fumble recovery, the 2nd of his career
- Had a career-high tying 1.5 sacks and now has 12.5 for his career. (Had 1.5 sacks 3 other times)
- Had an interception, the first of his career
- Had a career-high 3 pass breakups
- Had 8 tackles, which was one off his career high

NCAA RECORDS

Margus Hunt (DE) (Pony Express Award watch list)
- Had a blocked FG, stopping a 33-yard attempt with 16 seconds left in the first half.
- Now has 13 career blocked kick (7 FGs, 6 PATs), which ties for 3rd in NCAA history, it also extends his SMU record
- Now has 7 career blocked FGs, which is 3rd in NCAA history. (Record is 8; James Ferebee, New Mexico St, 1978-81; Terrence Holt, N.C. St, 1999-02)

Cole Beasley (WR) (Biletnikoff Award watch list)
- Had a career-high 10 receptions and becomes 13th player at SMU with at least 10 receptions in a game
- Had 99 receiving yards; now has 2074 career receiving yards, which is 7th at SMU
- Had 10 receptions; now has 186 career receptions, which moves him into a tie for 3rd at SMU

Zach Line (RB) (watch lists for: Doak Walker, Maxwell Award)
- Had 2 rushing TDs, now has 20 for his career
- Had 114 rushing yards and now has 1925 yards in his career, which moves him to 13th at SMU
- This is his 9th career 100-yard rushing game (had 7 in 2010)
