Thoughts/Questions I had after the UTEP game..

Here are questions that were in my head after watching that game against UTEP:

1) Why did we have a White out if the team was wearing red jerseys? Should it have been a red out?
2) What was up with our #81? Geez!! Jones benches Padron but leaves #81 out there dropping passes over and over?
3) June Jones has been at SMU fora few years. Why does he still wear the hawaiian lei on the field? Seems a little disrespectful to SMU.
4) Didn't Tom Mason realize that when tUTEP had 4 WRs in the game that they might pass? He was leaving LBs in the game trying to cover slot WRs. That was confusing to me.
5) JJ McDermott has a nice arm, but his passes seemed to me to be frozen ropes. I wonder if June Jones should maybe choose a QB and go forward...Not flip QBs over and over.
6) Overall this was a VERY sloppy game from offense and defense. The coaches need to go back to basics in practice.
7) Jared Williams looked solid to me.
8) I'm happy for JG Davis that he made a big plaay to make up for the big play he botched.
9) If SMU wants to move to the Big 12, they are going to have to play about 1,000 times better than last night. If we had been playing UT or OU last night, it might have been 100-3.

Again, these are my thoughts and opinions. If you don't agree with me, I understand.

Regarding #9, I think OU or UT would have scored more than three points...

Well actually I meant that SMU would be the 3.

Other than JaGerad and Reed, our linebacker play is very poor. If Cameron Rogers is the best we have at that position, that is very sad. What has happened to Bordano?

Um, that was humor.

Rogers has been a non factor and is a liability in coverage. I don't think he finishes the season as the starter. Gotta be someone else there...

This seems to be a recurring issue.

anyone know the penatly differential in yardage? had to be against us by 100 yds. Probably the biggest factor in the game.

Rogers will be benched over the next two games.

Regarding the comment on four WR, we went to the nickel. ONe of the OLB is pulled (the Victor Jones position), Jay scott plays safety and Banjo plays nickel corner. The problem is that rogers is awful in pass coverage and left the big gap over the middle of the field.

Kind of surprised that Banjo is the nickel corner and not Smith or Sorrell if you are going to go with three safeties.

Our team was simply flat and not inpired to play Saturday night--the crowd could sense it and they were equally not motivated. At least that is how my wife discribed it and she knows nothing about the game. Quite frankly, I felt like leaving early the entire game--it was that bad.

On the bright side, we broke a 3 game losing streak that stretched back to last season.

I thought the team really had a chance to open things up to ignite the crowd with more scores after going up 21-10. After that it got a little tense. Scoring TDs is a sure way to excite the crowd.

This needs to go in the Silver Lining thread.

UT?
Are the Longhorns even in the Top 20 in the country?
I think there are 3 college teams in the state of Texas ranked higher in the AP than UT.
UT is no longer a good team to use in an analogy of greatness.
