....in the 2nd half.
We sit 5 rows behind the O line bench and for the first time under the new coaching staff, the normally soft spoken Klemm and June Jones were in their face yelling about something. June started in on them, handed the discipline off to Klemm for a few minutes, and then came back with a dry board for some old school instruction.

Did you notice how the redheaded water girl stood there smiling and cracking jokes with the players while the coaches berated them?

Yeah. Weird game.
Sound system caused the first one. They just need to turn the sound off.

They were coming out of their stance just a split-second more quickly than they were used to because they didn't have any stripes on their pants.

No, I did not observe that particular behavior, but I did notice the red headed water girl.

It looked like the UTEP defense was calling our signals on the second one, and the refs did not catch it.

our offensive players were definitely getting upset at something UTEP was doing...probably mimicking our snap count

That is exactly what happened on the consecutive false starts. The O-Line, Beachum in particular, were pointing at the UTEP d-line and complaining to the refs (who never caught on, obviously).

We've had this problem before. Why is this something that seems to cause us so many problems? Surely other teams are pulling the same shennanigans.

the refs probably chose to allow UTEP to do so, considering the other bad calls they made.

To be fair, the midget on the east sidelines had only made it through about half of the rule book

You are correct, UTEP was messing with the snap count.
