defensive packages

When are we going to see more CBs on the field during passing situations. I like the new nickel look, but would love to see a package with Reed and Davis at LB, Hunt and Thompson at DE, and Frazier and Pittman at DT, with our big CBs (Parks, etc.) instead of an extra safety and Banjo playing the nickel. Think this would a awesome package to roll out on passing situations.

thoughts??

I think that Parks doesn't have the quick athleticism to play that inside corner spot.

I am kind of surprised we use Banjo instead of Sorrell or Smith, since they have more of a corner background.

I think originally the plan was to use Nate Robinson in that position, but I don't know what happened to that thought.

Jones likes the pressure he saw from the pass rushing front of Thompson, Frazier, and Hunt so don't expect any 4-2-5 stuff, IMHO.

First of all we play a 3-4, so I doubt Mason would bring in 4 DL for passing situations. Sorrell has no corner background, but Smith does. He played corner against Army in the bowl game although it was mainly to get more sure tacklers against a running team.

And I believe you are talking about Keith Robinson, not Nate who plays for the OKC Thunder.

It might be something to look at bringing in a corner for Banjo at Nickel if Jay Scott continues to struggle in coverage.

You might see a lot of different defensive sets and looks from the TCU game on. IMO the coaches don't want to be showing things that we don't need to win the game. Save the suprises for conf. play.

GO PONIES!!!
