Per ESPN in case big xii dissolves.

This would so [deleted] me off. Baylor is not entitled to shxt..they've done less with more for too long.

Those guys need to learn how to make do like SMU has.

That would enrage me as well. I don't blame them for throwing a fit, but if they magically land another BCS spot...enough to make you climb a clock-tower. Since 1996, they've gone what... 18–101 in the Big 12? Pathetic, and if they're "rewarded" for that?

Except in our case. I suspect we are talking to both the deaf and the walls and to no avail.

while i agree with the view that smu should get a shot at a bcs home,i dont see how we can blame baylor for doing somethinbg to protect its position....had smu done the same thing years ago,we might not be on the outside, looking in....right now we are at least giving the appearance that we are pro active....i just hope ...and that is really "hope", we are really serious, not just buying time until retirement....

I'm blaming the system for not punishing deficiencies.

Giddy up- with all due respect. Yes, we have been campaigning. My point was who has shown any interest in us? Have we had productive conversations with any major conference about moving? :(

Agreed. In every article: "Texas could go here. Pitt and WV could go here. Houston, and oh yeah, what about SMU?" We're the squeaky wheel that is suddenly getting placement consideration when otherwise we'd have none.

redpony it all starts with pursuit.....whatever you don't like about Orsini, he is working his [deleted] off on this SMU conference stuff and there are big time backers with cash and connections working it as well. Same goes for Turner, he is actively involved and working the phones. Heck we even have our Dallas Mayor working the SMU cause as it now comes down to pride that a Top 4 population city in the nation doesn't have a BCS team! If we don't land somewhere, it won't be from lack of effort.
The BE will want more tentacles out West to go along with TCU, and SMU will be all over working the BE when it breaks up more.

Plus, I suspect any BCS interest or acceptance would be a very tight-lipped affair by Turner or SteveO anyway. Nothing, nothing, a sudden, hastily thrown press conference announced for the following day...then BOOM. A la June Jones' hire. Not saying it's going to happen, but we will probably not know anything until it is announced. It won't be a leaky process like A&M and OU. Another domino or two has to fall anyway before conferences start taking SMU calls more seriously.

Totally agree as it would NOT be in the best interests for SMU to allow any leaks as to conference alignment as then we would be attacked from all angles from others. Its every man for himself in this nasty business now.

Yes, I agree that our admin is working hard to get us consideration. I am just not sure our pleas are being seriously considered. You all are correct that things will probably happen quietly up until the announcement. IDK. Also, regarding SO- you are correct in that I don't particularly care for the guy. My issues center around an extremely poor contract for our bball coach and very poor coaching selections for some of the non-rev sports. JMHO.
In the final analysis, I just want us to be in a major AQ conference and all of our sports teams to be highly ranked nationally. Probably no different than 99% of the posters here.

Maybe Eric dickerson got a call from the pac 12 commish who told ED they'll accept SMU if they apply, but I'd word leaks out before seasons end there's no deal
