Looks like Uconn to the ACC now and Texas, OU, OSU and TT to Pac-16.

Big 10 and SEC will pick off the remaining good Big 12 schools .

Does not look good for us.

our best change is somehow get the MW merger/playoff for AQ. We need to grab Boise State and UNLV - throw them in CUSA and grab 2 (Colo State/AF) ? for 16.

I see a best of the rest conference emerging out of this....at least I think this is most likely. 12, 14 or 16 teams? Not sure but I would go big so you have enough schools to absorb the loss of 1 or 2 teams (Kansas to Big 10, etc.)

TCU
Baylor
Kansas
Kansas State
Iowa State
USF
Louisville
Cincinatti
UCF
Houston
Boise
Air Force
BYU
SMU
Navy

The ACC may suffer losses still to the SEC. It needs three more teams. The Big Ten won't let the PAC 16 trump them they need to add four. Other than ND, Rutgers and Missouri, not sure who fits their profile (not KSU, Baylor, TCU, USF, Louisville or Cincy). Then there's what's left of the Big XII. I have to believe Kansas will be picked up by someone probably the SEC, but is KSU a deal breaker for Kansas. I suspect not. So, who will the Big Ten add? ISU may slip in over the objection of Iowa. If the SEC takes KU, then they would need two and they would probably take FSU and either GT or VT from the ACC. The ACC would then back fill with WVU and Louisville. That leaves Baylor, TCU, USF, Cincy, KSU and without homes. My suspicion is that those four join CUSA which jumps to 16 teams. USF and Cincy in the east and KSU/Baylor in the west. MWC stays pat. Would that conference be BCS worthy, not quite. Cincy made a good run a few years ago and TCU made two BCS bowls. There are three wild card teams out there. ND, BYU and Boise. Lots of jostling to come.

Don't know about uconn going, but this article on the teams leaving the big east was interesting.
http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/blog/dr_saturday/post/Back-up-the-van-Syracuse-and-Pitt-are-officiall?urn=ncaaf-wp6512
Directly interesting/funny:
"Congress has the nexus to engage," he said."These are tax-exempt organizations now making billions off of unpaid athletes. When it's a regional league, it seems to make sense. When you're taking schools practically from coast to coast and putting them in big-profit revenue leagues, we may be at a point where the N.C.A.A. has lost its ability to create a fair system for all to play in."

This from an unnamed Congressman from a state impacted by the realignment talks.

Ha, ha.

I hope for the best.

would the ACC really prefer Baylor to TCU, or even us? Who wants to fly in to DFW and drive another 2 hours to play in Waco?

Is that so Duke can have a win on its in conference football schedule?

It was one thing when Baylor was getting beat by UT, OU, TT, A$M, NEB, etc. To end of getting beat every week by Wake, Duke, NCState, Virginia would be truly embarrassing.

Either SMU or TCU would bring a larger TV market as well as having a fan base that travels better than the brazos bozos. In addition, both of those schools have much nicer facilities. Hard to imagine that the ACC would not be considering those issues.

I saw an article in the Washington Post which indicated that UT and Notre Dame are the teams the ACC is pursuing to fill the last two spots. Would FSU stay if that happened or leave? That's the multi-million dollar question. FSU wants a stronger football conference. UT would do that for the ACC, but at a cost. No mention of the Big Ten, but I have to feel that ND is the hot chick right now. If the ACC, BE, Big Ten are all wooing ND, they are in the best position ever. UT is down to the ACC, Pac-16 or keeping some form of the Big XII together. I also have seen that another Big XII is a target if ND says no. Apparently, there is also a group in the ACC that want Rutgers and UConn for TV reasons.
