C-USA and MWC talking merger, too

Also talking about a merger is the Mountain West Conference and Conference USA.

Mountain West Conference Commissioner Craig Thompson told the Idaho Statesmen that he and CUSA Commissioner Britton Banowsky â€œresurrected this consolidation concept with Conference USA from a football-only standpoint.â€

A union between those schools could create one BCS automatic qualifying league, but thereâ€™s no guarantee some of those schools wonâ€™t also look elsewhere.

This is really SMU's only feasible solution in all of this. I hope this actually happens, and I hope the conference isn't named C-USA, that sounds terribly mid-major.

Absolutely, cut out the dead weight in both conferences and build a conference by merging the best of the best and then adding some other teams that might have been left out by the others.

the way things are going the BCS is going to be left w/ only 5 super confs...so maybe they let Conference Mountain America States of the West be the 6th after the BE is picked clean.
