Leftover Conference in Merger Would be Big 12 Not Big Eastaccording to ESPN-not surprised by that-but will there be enough seats at the Table
http://espn.go.com/college-football/sto ... ources-say "With a quarter of a tank of gas, we can get everything we need right here in DFW." -SMU Head Coach Chad Morris
When momentum starts rolling downhill in recruiting-WATCH OUT.
Re: Leftover Conference in Merger Would be Big 12 Not Big EaIf they hope to get to 16 I think we stand a chance, other wise, nope...
Re: Leftover Conference in Merger Would be Big 12 Not Big EaAnd b12 has more departure money coming
B12-4(assume ku or missou is out to sec acc or b10 eventually) Beast cincy sf louis tcu Add 4 or better 8 Smu hou with bu tcu (isu) ku ksu (Missouri) cincy louis Memphis smiss UCF usf 12 (Isu) bsu afa csu (wyo) 16 The 4 quads gives some regional rivalries.
Re: Leftover Conference in Merger Would be Big 12 Not Big EaI think the Big XII has 2 things going for it: the schools left in the Big East seem to be more basketball oriented schools, and there just seems to be more possible combinations with the schools located in the middle of the country and west vs. the Big East's footprint.
Granted, the Big XII has Beebe at the helm, which means all hell could break loose and he'd have no clue how to react.
Leftover Conference in Merger Would be Big 12 Not Big EastI have to think that within the hour of tx and OU leaving that the remaining presidents would vote to remove beebe
Ok this is getting ridiculous...I agree with Dutch on THIS ONE POST by him totally
Re: Leftover Conference in Merger Would be Big 12 Not Big EaI hate to say it but I just can not see a bcs conference wanting smu. I hope I am wrong, boy I hope I am wrong. Maybe the powers to be can pull off another, "Miracle on Mockingbird".
GO MUSTANGS!

Thank you, not paying attention GO MUSTANGS!
Re: Leftover Conference in Merger Would be Big 12 Not Big EaAgreed with Stallion that as of this morning, the Leftover 8 is the most likely landing ground. Without the 'usual supects' (UT,OU, TT, A&M) as the local landing ground of support in Dallas, and with the potential that they will be scattered to the conference coast winds, the logic of Dallas becoming a media selling point for SMU becomes viable again. Anorexic-thin logic here, but for those remnants of the B-12, they prospect of Dallas becomes attractive in the survival scenario.
stable-boy for the four horsemen of the apocalypse
Re: Leftover Conference in Merger Would be Big 12 Not Big EaI think OSU goes where OU goes. But TT has to be wetting their pants. The ACC wants UT, but not TT. The Pac 12 wants UT and OU, but not OSU and TT, but will take them but wants the LHN shared. Baylor, ISU, KSU will probably be the odd men out. TCU, USF, Cincy clearly the odd men out in the BE with UConn, WVU, Rutgers and Louisville sweating. Rutgers and UConn are the ACC fallbacks if UT and ND turn them down. But if FSU and one other ACC school goes SEC, then WVU and Louisville are probably under consideration by the ACC. So, what I would do if I was Baylor, ISU, KSU, Cincy, TCU and USF is get together and look around for teams that make sense for a 16 team conference. Boise, AFA, BYU clearly at the top of the list. TT, Louisville, clearly possible pledges. Next rung UCF, SMU, Houston, Memphis, Fresno, SDS, UNLV. Next rung, USM, Tulsa, ECU, CSU, Nevada (good programs and following not huge markets). Last on the list Rice, Tulane, Wyoming. Just see where it all leads.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna
Re: Leftover Conference in Merger Would be Big 12 Not Big EaOSU goes with OU no matter what. TT is linked to UT and it looks like they are going to the Pac 12. Sounds like it is pretty much a done deal..
GO MUSTANGS!
Re: Leftover Conference in Merger Would be Big 12 Not Big EaWhy it tt linked?
That's a bad assumption Would pac12 schools really rather play in Lubbock or recruit in Dallas
Re: Leftover Conference in Merger Would be Big 12 Not Big EaPAC is reluctant to take Tech but will gladly welcome them in to get Texas.
PAC has no interest in us at all. Back off Warchild seriously.
Re: Leftover Conference in Merger Would be Big 12 Not Big Easo, if merger happens, what do we really think our chances are? Sounds like Uconn and Rutgers to ACC is likely. Mizzou/WV to SEC or ACC if one or more teams leave. So you really only have 8 schools left in this merger- TCU, Baylor, Kansas, K st, ISU, Cincy, Louisville, USF. That leaves 4 spots if they want to go to twelve, or 8 spots if they go 16. I think 12 is more likely, but they may want to protect themselves and go to 16 in case they think they might lose a school like kansas.
Competent leftovers who will want in (in order of who I think the new Big 12 would want to add) - BYU, BSU, UCF, AFA, Memphis, UH, SMU, ECU, Tulsa, USM, Tulane. My guess - if they go to 12, we are out. If they go to 16, we are in. Feel free to change my order if you know something I don't, as this is all pure speculation.
Re: Leftover Conference in Merger Would be Big 12 Not Big EaWe need sec and big ten to make some moves....both need to go to 16
