Does Printz De-Commit if we get left out of ralignment?

Postby SMU1523 » Tue Sep 20, 2011 12:47 am

Does QB Eddie Printz de-commit if we get left out of realignment (assuming this pushes us down further into a much more noticeable second tier of college football)? How much will conference realignment hurt recruiting if this nightmare becomes reality?

We aren't in one of the Top 7 Conference now. None in our Conference has sniffed a BCS Bid-why would it change much

True... I am just worried that the line between the have's and have not's will be much more well defined making mid majors less attractive...

See from my perspective that line was drawn in 1996 when the BCS was started.

Once again very true. I was 6-years-old then. I've grown up in a world where SMU Football stories have been passed down to me from my parents and grandparents like Bible stories. Let's see, we have Samson and Delilah, David and Goliath, and Ron Meyer and the Pony Express.

What about when kickers look at Marcus and they turn into a pillar of salt?

While I agree with your general sentiment, you may want to check the date that the BCS started. You're a couple years early there.

You are young, but have been sitting at the foot of wisdom...Nehemiah and June Jones: both rebuilders.

First of all, its not a good use of time to speculate whether this or that high school standout will commit or de-commit based on conference affiliation. You'd have to ask Printz. He's the only one who can tell you.

I suddenly feel compelled to digress and state the obvious that we CANNOT ask Printz this or any other question because contact with recruits by boosters like us is strictly prohibited!!!!!!!

Secondly, if SMU falls through the cracks of re-alignment and into the abyss of athletic irrelevance, whether or not Printz de-commits will be the least of our problems.

Finally, as I have stated repeatedly, SMU is going to come out of this just fine. I lived through the breakup of the SWC and the breakup of the WAC 2.0. Shockingly, in both cases the sun still rose the next day and SMU has continued to play football and basketball every year since each of those events occurred. Plus, this time things are different on the Hilltop. Turner and Orsini are the right men for the job. SMU will take advantage of this chaos to better its position.

So pour yourself a drink, relax, and enjoy the show. It will have a happy ending.

De-commits happen. No sense worry about what 17-18 year olds may do, take care of what SMU can do and I suspect it will turn out just fine.
