ACC and SEC reject WVU

Probably not good for us as 1 less spot in big east big 12 merger
Usually when something is rejected so soundly in Morgantown, it's a Bob Huggins' power forward or center making the stop. In the case of West Virginia football, it's the ACC and the SEC which have soundly rejected the Mountaineers.
Multiple Big East sources told Brett McMurphy of CBS Sports, "...they have been told by WVU officials that WVU rejected by ACC & SEC."
The Big East may have just been taken off life support.

propaganda. why would they reject them now? why not just keep them on the back burner and see how things play out?

West Virginia is barely a university...it ranks lower than every single SEC school, even Miss. State. On US W&N, it clocks in at an awesome 164. WVU also only has 1.8 million people in the entire state, and at least 12 of them are Marshall fans, so it's not exactly bringing in a bunch of TV sets.
Kind of funny that if SMU could get 25% of the DFW population to watch its game on TV, we've brought in more "viewers" than the entire state of WV has.

you know everyone would be happier if the Big East picked up the pieces in the East and the Big 12 picked up the pieces in the West but I'm sure the desperate lure of the BCS will force a conglomeration of schools with little in common.

I find it hilarious because it's a horrible school which siphoned off the lowest 5% of my high school that elected not to go to JUCO or stare at the sun every day. It's the school that I've heard defended as a "great" because "businesses and companies know that it's such a huge party school, that if you graduate in four years it shows your committed and dedicated."

Now if the BE can hold on to the rest of the schools perhaps there will not be a merger. Then both the BE and the b12 could back fill and get their conferences back to the numbers that they had. I think that would be an ideal situation for us.
GO PONIES!!!

What other Schools are interested in joining the SEC? what would be a good Fit Pat?
Pat Forde (12:33 PM)
Bobby: Missouri is the best fit -- big TV markets, solid broad-based program, very competitive in football and basketball in recent years, contiguous with three SEC states. Cultural fit a bit off, but endurable. Only other option would be an ACC school, but the buyout is huge and there would be probably be internal resistance to all but Maryland, Va Tech or a North Carolina school. And I don't think any of those are looking to leave.

I find it laughable that the "new" Big 12 could stretch from the Rockies to the East Coast and include teams like WVU, Baylor, Cincinnati, USF, and maybe ECU, AFA, or others....talk about a boring conference that will have major attendance issues.
I don't know if/how we fit in exactly, but Stallion is right...the fans of the teams in those conferences will be much happier with a "weaker" regional alignment (provided it's still AQ) than some ridiculous pairing like that.
Baylor would never draw more than 25k playing anyone other that TCU in a conference like that.
