Has anyone else been keeping up with the realignment discourse bonanza that is going on in other forums? I've been hanging out a bit at other places and it's interesting to see what schools people include/leave out in their conference predictions. Here's a funny one from our buddies up north:
"I agree with you to a certain extent. Although it may be tough, I think over time many DFW residents would receive a "big-time", public university very well. TCU and SMU are not good examples of capturing the DFW market.
Also, in my opinion the Big 12 needs to focus on making the TX/OK region stronger. That means creating more rivalries with either proven schools or high potential schools. Houston, North Texas, and UTEP would both be great additions and fit these requirements.
Texas, Texas Tech, OU, OSU, North Texas, Houston, Kansas, Kansas State, Iowa State, Baylor, UTEP. Throw in a few others and I think you have a strong conference that can continue to build the Big 12."
Clearly there's a ton wrong with that post. LOL at the idea of North Texas and UTEP being proven schools in football (hey we actually have a national championship and many conference championships, but whatevs).I just find it interesting how different fans perceive themselves as vital components in realignment. Let's be honest, besides that initial media blitz we experienced two weeks back, SMU hasn't been on tv or the radio nearly as much. Are we actually a factor going into realignment (albeit a MWC merger, Big XII invite)?
