NEW YORK -- Included below is a statement from the BIG EAST Conference following a Tuesday meeting.
"Our membership met this evening and we are committed as a conference to recruit top level BCS caliber institutions with strong athletic and academic histories and traditions. We have been approached by a number of such institutions and will pursue all of our options to make the BIG EAST Conference stronger than it has ever been in both basketball and football."

ESPN article says that the BE is aggressively searching for schools to replace Pitt and Syracuse.

Hmmm....will TCU or won't they? My guess is they WILL....Screw us, that is.

So, is Villanova going to go from D-IAA to AQ school just like that? Wouldn't that be just swell.

I wonder if the BE can get Navy and Air Force if they see them making a good effort.

This.

Wonder if Orsini's ND ties could help at all- granted, they're not a FB member, but they have somewhat of a rooted interest in seeing that the BE survives for their other sports if they wish to remain Indy in football (although they just join a spinoff conference with Catholic non-FB BE schools in BE implodes)

and Army/Navy. They could take alot of pieces off the table. i see us going opposite of wherever tcu goes. they stay east, we go west and vice versa. unfortunate but true.

This is all wasted energy by the fans to speculate. Just worry about football and what's on the field.

Okay. You're right. We should not even be concerned about this in the slightest. Let's just all stick our heads in the sand and pull them out again one day when we are playing NTSU 4 times a season. Is your name Pye?

I'm pretty sure all I said was wasted energy by the FANS. Turner, Steve-O, June, SID should all be busting their [deleted] to get us in the best possible scenario. Learn to read.

Villanova applied for the ACC today. (per fox sports radio)

West Virginia was also turned down by both the ACC and SEC.

Isn't this what we wanted? Big east and big 12 survive and backfill, hopefully with us. BE top targets are afa, army, navy, and maybe ucf and ecu. Big 12 loses mizzou and tamu, so they are down to 8 teams and need to add 4. They want byu, maybe try to take bsu. Still leaves 2 spots open, maybe us and memphis or uh? Not too may other options left since BE survived. We have to be in the mix here, cause lookls like BE doesn't want us. Have to get into b12. Have to. Cusa poised to lose some good teams, as will mwc. Shoot, mwc may lose afa and bsu, its top two teams after tcu leaves this year.
