SMU, UH and TCU should approach OU/OSU

and discuss forming a new league sans Texas. You want to talk about OU getting the last laugh.

Seriously, maybe the door gets slammed in their faces, but I think SMU (Dallas), TCU (FW) and UH (Houston) could make a decent pitch for OU to take OSU, Mizzou, KU, KSU, Baylor, and ISU and form a 10-team league with BCS status. Who needs UT and TT anyway? (Keeping TT out is like keeping an anchor tied to UT's neck; without TT, UT may be able to go anywhere, so I say, keep them linked together. Besides, no legislature approval is needed. hahahaha)

I digress--Orsini & Turner, get with your counterparts at TCU and UH, then call Baylor and tell them what you're up to, then get a meeting with OU and OSU and fly up with a nice cake and champagne and get it done!

LOL. Playing these teams holds no allure for OU. As much as they may be fed up w/ Texas, they know they need Texas. SMU, TCU, Houston, and Baylor combined do not do for them what the one game against Texas does. OU and OSU are puffing out their chests like they have clout, but the fact of the matter is they will do what Texas tells them to do and shut up. Any sort of projected conference affiliation w/ SMU, TCU, and Houston would be a slap in the face to OU. But hey, as you said, we have nothing to lose anyway.

Might be more interesting if you could add BYU and Boise as well for 12 teams. That might even help sway the Okies. Well, guess we can all dream. I just hope that when the clock strikes 12 we are sitting at one of the big tables and not left in the kitchen.

GO PONIES!!!

You'd have to sell the [deleted] out of it--no question. But, think of what OU could gain: Independence from Texas; they stay in a conference with OSU, which also has other respectable teams, but one that they could dominate (for a while); the conference would have no championship game, so they could roll into NC game pretty easily; they could still schedule UT if they wanted to every year; they play games in Dallas, Houston and FW; regional matchups week in, week out; but most importantly, they show THEY, the mighty OU, stuck it to Texas and changed the college football landscape in a positive way by standing up to the BEVO network.

It could work, especially with TCU's status right now. SELL IT, BABY!!!!

UT is the friend you have with a private jet or a yacht or courtside seats...you may actually freakin' hate him, but you you love the benefits of having him as your buddy.

plus most of their fans don't pick their nose like most Big 12 schools. Mqny love to hate UT but I'd bet most on here would chose UT over the local alternatives

Okay. Lets say that after the maniacal laughter dies down on the other end of the phone line that OU hasn't hung up on you. You are going to have a conference that looks like this:

Oklahoma
Oklahoma State
Boise State
TCU
SMU
BYU
Houston
Baylor
Air Force (?)
Iowa State

Strange thing is that that is actually a pretty competitive conference top to bottom and would certainly garner AQ status. Its a neat concept, but would never happen. The only way OU would do this is if somehow Notre Dame got involved, and that ain't happenin'.

I'll give you credit for thinking outside the Box because who knows Texas might have to go independent if they insist on LHN

Texas values its non-football sports too highly to see them stuck in the WAC/MWC/CUSA. They will not be going indy IMO.

Maybe we could get Mark Cuban to put this together and we could call it the Conference of Mavericks. :)

No phone call. Schedule a meeting. GT, SO and TCU/UH counterparts go in person to meet with their counterparts at OU. 3 hour meeting behind closed doors. They need to be ready to sell, sell, sell. Don't forget to bring some sort of expensive gift that can be imbibed.
