Great read! ... I finally got around to it just now.

I don't think most people my age have the malaise agains UT that older folks do, but when I hear stuff like this I see why y'all hate them!
I saw a movie that came out this past December, and you know, while it didn't go into it too deeply... I seem to recall that the NCAA showed up on SMU's campus the Monday following an un-ranked Mustang's team historic road win over #2 Texas.
...
There really was a part of me that wanted to stick it to UT with the movie, but I felt that was bad for business and bad for our program. Just tell the story, don't go into whiny-baby mode and this thing will rock. And do well for the school. Don't play the sour grapes card.
Anyway, as a filmmaker I had to fight myself as a fan, because the fan part of me really wanted to hammer home what I have long dubbed, "the burnt orange thread" running through SMU's downfall... I will note, though, we didn't do ourselves any favors in the "full of ourselves" department.
Someday, when I get the chance to tell the SMU in the late '70s/early '80s story as an HBO (or somesuch) mini-series, UTexas will get it's due. (And, frankly, what a badass series that will be.)
