Turnovers

I just looked at the game stats, and it showed that we had 6 fumbles and lost 3, plus the one interception. We better get the fumbling issue under control. Against a better team, it will cost us.

Our turnover problem is getting ridiculous.

We were almost dead last in turnover differential last year and this year so far:

A&M: 2 turnovers
UTEP: 3 turnovers
NWSt: 3 turnovers
Memphis: 4 turnovers (+ 3 additional fumbles we recovered)

So we've given the ball away 12 times and only taken the ball away 4 times? We are going to get killed down the stretch if that problem isn't addressed...

Additionally, I was disappointed with JJMcD's play today. Yes he had good numbers and made several nice throws, but I think he is decidedly mediocre. We are so close to taking this thing up a notch, but I just don't see how it's going to happen with such average QB play.

On the positive side, our D hasn't allowed a score in 9 quarters and counting...Great job boys!

Still blows my mind we aren't getting the take aways. Seemed like more opps today, a lot of balls through the fingers.

JJ looked great in the first 2 series, 2nd half all his throws were high, none in stride.

Agreed - this is getting ridiculous. Should have had a pick or two.

Our D will probably save us this year. The O needs to get it together as the TOs will kill us in the tough games.

GO PONIES!!!

Yeah this fumbling thing is a damn joke. Most of them are happening while the ballcarrier is on the way to the ground. Have to secure the ball better. We're going to see McD throw a lot more picks against better competition.

give Memphis credit; their D fought and worked at knocking the ball loose. We have work to do

June mentioned the turnover margin during the postgame interview on Fox.
We had several near-INTs in the second half, but close doesn't count.
Turnovers are going to murder us in October if we don't get our act together.

yea dude, we should be satisfied that we are among the worst 10 teams in college football in regards to turnovers. stop being so negative.

was responding specifically to him telling me i am too negative about McDermott. IMO the defense played much better than McDermott/the offense today by far, despite no takeaways, which i agree is a problem. We are gonna get exposed at TCU.

agree with you 100%. Gotta give all the credit in the world to the defense.

McDermott is so incredibly average out there.

OK, I'm officially done with this McD put-down.

Facts:
356 yards
63.6 completion %
3 TDs to 1 pick
149.6 rating

Those are not average numbers.

Agreed. McD has flaws but it isn't like Padron would have any better numbers. Time to move on.

i think he is a pretty good quarterback - but not sure you can point to big stats vs Memphis to prove that. Padron will get his shot again - hope he is ready to show JJ he was wrong.
