It will be interesting to see what we can do now that the team has had a couple of tune up games.

Not expecting much I would not say the team is humming at this point. Which is a shame because we have the talent (on the roster not nessisarily on the field) to win this conference.

certainly a good sign of how far the program has come when we can find so much to complain about after winning 42-0 to go 2-0 in conference play, but these next 4 games dictate what kind of season it will be and will tell us whether this team is better than last year's.

I think we have the best talent on the field IMO.

We don't have the requisite QB talent to win this conference.

This. UCF and Southern Miss are not nearly the CUSA world-beaters people thought they would be.

This would be comforting if we didn't have a big hole at QB.

Our Defense pretty well handled UCF last year-it was mostly on the Offense

We can hang with anyone in CUSA defensively...we are definitely the best in the west and might be the best overall.
That being said, we gotta put up some points and if Beasley is out it's going to hurt. We obviously need to beat TCU first, but after that we have to go at least 2-1 over the next 3 and then beat Houston to have a shot at the championship.
Not an easy road, but there's no reason we can't do it. Time to back this team for what they are capable of, not for what you've come to always expect. Believe.

Next Four Games:
TCU - since their race to finish line loss against Baylor they have been soundly beating teams. Toughest team left on our schedule. My pro-SMU bias makes it hard to evaluate them and this is a rivalry where anything can go. Probably a loss.
UCF - great QB, terrible team mistakes. If you saw the BYU game Friday then you know how scary UCF can be and also how easily they can shoot themselves in the foot. Like many CUSA teams, it really depends on who shows up to the game.
SM - Like UCF, people said this was potentialy one of the best teams in CUSA and they have been in flux. Lost to marshal, but blew out SEL (FCS team) like a decent FBS team should. With 8mins left in the 4th, they are beating UVA by 11 and have picked off UVA qb 3 times. Could have some fun with McD.
Tulsa- Way too tough of an out of conference schedule. Will we be playing a mentally broken and injured team or one with a fire under them to prove they are better than their record. Who knows, GJ could be there or could still be out.
Before the season it would have been reasonable to write these four games off as losses even with thinking KP would be our wonderboy starter, but with the flux that is CUSA, we could very well walk away with 2 or 3 wins without even inspiring play from our QB or defense. SMU just needs to play consistently/minimize mistakes and wait for the fellow CUSA teams to shoot themselves in the foot.

Navy is better than expected-maybe not as good as last year but this QB is good and they got some studs in the Backfield
