SMU records its first SHUTOUT since a 28-0 win at Hawaii on Oct. 3, 1998

SMU starts the season 3-1 for the first time since 1992

SMU is 14-4 in its last 18 Conference USA games overall

SMU is 4-1 in its last 5 Conference USA road games

SMU improves to 2-0 in Conference USA for the third straight year

SMU has won 4 straight C-USA games and scored at least 28 points in each (W, 42-0 vs. Memphis; W 28-17 vs. UTEP on 9/10/11; W 45-38 in OT at East Carolina on 11/26/10; W 31-17 vs. Marshall on 11/20/10)

SMU had 519 yards of offense, going over 500 for the second straight week (530 vs. Northwestern State)

This is the largest margin of victory for SMU (42-0) since a 55-9 win vs. Arkansas State on Sept. 23, 2006. It is the largest margin in a conference game since a 45-3 win at Rice on Sept. 13, 1986.

SMU has allowed just 7 points in the last two games, the least since 1983 (W 33-7 vs. Texas Tech on 11/12; W 17-0 vs. Arkansas on 11/19)

SMU held its opponent without an offensive TD for the second straight week. (Northwestern State had a fumble return TD in SMU’s 40-7 win last week)

SMU led 28-0 at halftime; that is the most points for SMU in the first half since 31 vs. Nevada in the 2009 Hawaii Bowl. It is the most in any half since scoring 28 in the 2nd half at East Carolina on Nov. 26, 2010.

Zach Line had 3 rushing TDs and has 8 in the last two games. He has 11 on the season.

SMU has allowed 265 total yards in the last 2 games (139 to Memphis and 126 to Northwestern State last week)

SMU has held two straight opponents to just 7 first downs. Last week’s game vs. Northwestern State marked the first time SMU held an opponent that low since 7 by UTEP in 2001.

SMU forced Memphis to punt 12 times, the most by an SMU opponent under June Jones (was 9 at Tulsa in 2009)

- Now has 2146 yards in his career, which moves him to 10th at SMU

- Started his 43rd consecutive game at SMU

- Had 2 tackles and a tackle for loss (has 3.5 TFLs on the season)

Chase Hover (K) - Was 6-6 on PATs. He is 16-17 on the season.

Darius Johnson (WR) (Biletnikoff Award watch list)
- Tied his career-high with 2 receiving TDs, his first 2 TDs of the season; now has 9 for his career
- Had a season-high of 10 receptions (had 12 at Navy in 2010)
- Had 116 receiving yards, his 2nd 100-yard game of the season and 6th of his career
- Now has 1347 career receiving yards
- Now has 116 career receptions

Randall Joyner (LB) – Had his first career fumble recovery, returning it 9 yards

J.J. McDermott (QB)
- Set career highs with 28 completions, 44 attempts, 357 passing yards and 3 passing TDs
- Improved to 3-0 as a starter at SMU
- 357 passing yards ties for 20th in a game at SMU

Uchenna Nwabuike (LB) - Had his first career sack

Kevin Pope (LB)
- Had a career-high 7 tackles
- Had his first career sack

Taylor Reed (LB) (Rotary Lombardi Award watch list)
- Had a season-high 10 tackles; his 8th career game with 10+ tackles
- He had 2.5 tackles for loss (career high is 3 at UCF in the 2010 C-USA Championship game)
- Had a sack; now has 2.0 for the season and 5.0 for his career

Der’rikk Thompson (WR) - Had 6 catches for 104 yards and a TD (this was his first game with any receptions)

Taylor Thompson (DE) (watch lists: Bronko Nagurski Award, Rotary Lombardi Award, Pony Express Award)
- Had a sack; now has 3.5 for the season and 13.5 for his career
- Had 3 tackles

Probably should add Kelly Turner, 1 rush for 1 yard. Not to mention a really heads up play picking up the ball in the end zone and getting it out.
