Wide receiversHe looked really good today in his first real playing time. Could he also play in the slot (i.e. if Beasley is hurt, even for a week)? Or is he an outside guy only? They say the WRs all have to learn all four positions, and with his wheels, I wonder what he could do inside.
Also great to see Jeremy Johnson get a few catches. Hopefully he's just scratching the surface.
Re: Wide receivers
I assume your are talking about Thompson but you do need to narrow it down a little. ![]() All those who believe in psycho kinesis, raise my hand
Re: Wide receiversIn this offense where small guys who can get open and make plays is what the coaches want, you better be playing 8-10 guys when you can to get em ready for when the injuries occur. Jeremy has played very little but looked so smooth when he was in the game yesterday. Thompson just keeps getting better! Good to see the guys step up and make plays when opportunity arises and kudos to the coach keeping their morale up and ready to play.
Re: Wide receiversMemphis gave Thompson plenty of cushion and he still managed to get behind them; what really impressed me was his concentration because the DB came very close to knocking the long TD ball away
Let's face it...we are going to need big games from Thompson and Jeremy Johnson against the purple menace
Re: Wide receivers
Agreed...Although TCU D isn't what it was last year, they are still pretty solid. I think the entire SMU team is going to have to have a big game!! But I think we can! I will be interested to see how our secondary matches up with TCU WR and TE...looking forward to Sat.
Re: Wide receiversTCU Opponents hitting on 2 out of every 3 passes

When momentum starts rolling downhill in recruiting-WATCH OUT.
Re: Wide receivers
Good stat! Thanks...JJ should tear it up then!
Re: Wide receiversJeremy Johnson might not have the same grasp of the offense that CB does, but I think he will be able to step in just fine.
Wide receiversMight be good for the offense to actually work the ball around to other receivers...worked at memphis
Re: Wide receiversTCU's corners may choose to defend our outside wr's like A$M and NWS did. That was to engage them headon, or shove them out of bounds. Beat TCU!

Re: Wide receiversWe already beat Memphis Alex
Re: Wide receiversI think that JJ should call that "touchdown play" so that JJ can complete a long pass to JJ.
Stallion doesn't think I'm a stinkin' genius anymore.
Re: Wide receivers
Thanks, I'll blame it on that powerful margarita that RGV introduced me to. Beat tcu!
Re: Wide receivers
I bet Patterson is taking sleeping pills to sleep since he does not know for sure who our "go to guy" is. Advantage SMU.....
Re: Wide receiversI keep thinking Coach Jones has a trick or two up his sleeve, like a bigger role for Holman (if healthy) or Holleman or Jeremy Johnson ... or something along those lines.
