I guess the 27 month wait goes out the window?

Let it happen; Big XII goes to 14 to keep their conference inappropriately named; ACC picks up Rutgers and UConn and the Big East returns to being a basketball conference.
Still wonder about getting BYU in but I expect TCU, Cincy, Louisville and W.Virginia would accept invitations in a heartbeat
SEC remains in position to pluck someone from ACC or Big XII and there is always the Big Ten (that other mis-named group)
If USF is left out in the cold, they would be a good addition to CUSA East...especially as a replacement for marshall if they go back to MAC

Gist of the article suggests TCU, BYU, Louisville, WVU, and Cincinnati are likely headed to Big 12. Then goes on to suggest Big East replaces those schools with Houston, Air Force, Army, Navy, East Carolina, Central Florida, and Temple.
This was the scenario I discussed in an earlier post. If this happens we really have 3 options:
1. Stay in CUSA: The conference likely extends invites to La Tech, Troy, and FIU from the Sun Belt to backfill. La Tech takes Houston's spot in the West while Troy and FIU go East to offset ECU and UCF. This is the CUSA/Sun Belt nightmare scenario that has been discussed at length.
2. Go to MWC: I'm sorry. I'd rather be in a conference with Boise State, San Diego State, Nevada, and Colorado State. At least they are fun travel spots mixed in there. Not sure how realistic it is but maybe SMU and UTEP make a move to the MWC.
3. Independent - Yeah I know stupid. But I'd rather be independent than be in a drastically watered down CUSA.

Big East has nothing to offer (as far as joining a football conference) if that group leaves

First ponyboy, now you. You people amaze me....is this really our fanbase? If so then we are screwed worse than I ever thought.
I stuck with the Mavs in the 90s...how'd that work out?
I stuck with the Rangers for 30 years...how's that working out?
People here like to rip on Stallion but you'll never hear him say something like that. It's amazing to me that so many of you are so willing to quit when it gets tough. We've been in a terrible conference and sucked for 20 years, and just when it's looking brighter you are willing to just walk away because of a POSSIBLE problem that may or may not be permanent?
Why not just quit now and go buy a UT or A&M shirt?

Guess you were not here the years that Stallion would not contribute to the Mustang Club until the model was changed.

Temple and Villanova-now why in the heck would any of these schools want that. Why would the Big East BB teams want 7-8-9 Southern teams The Big East needs to dissolve as a Football Conference if Rutgers and UConn go. Hope the ACC puts them out of the misery. Its done. The "New Conference" needs to be a Southern based conference focused on Football or it will never work.

Did I see anything that should have led me to believe the CUSA/MWC "merger" won't happen? That's our most probable path IMO.

ACC is about to lock up the entire east coast and might even fend off the SEC...let 'em have Missou
