Standing in line at the concession stand before the game I heard this conversation between two frog students behind me...

Guy (to girl): why'd you decide to go to TCU?

Girl: It was the only school I got into.

Guy: Me too!

Girl: Yeah, I applied to UT, Arizona State, Tech, SMU and some others.

Guy: Wow, i didn't even try to apply to SMU.

I try to refrain from academic smack (I understand applications are way up at TCU), but this conversation was too awesome not to share.

Sort of his "I coulda had a V8" moment.

Arizona State?!? I am proud of my masters degree from there, but their goal is to allow every Arizona high school graduate automatic acceptance. That is funny!

ASU is pretty easy. A lot of kids from my son's HS are going there & we're here in Calif. I asked him why & he said it's quite easy to get in. However, they do have some good programs there as I understand.

I hear the same thing in OC...ASU is a fallback choice.

Was at the public Frog tent--one of two SMU fans. Ordered a hamburger and drink.

"Oh, your from SMU!"! I smiled, she said in her TCU purple shirt, "That will be $11.00."
"why did you go to SMU?"

I handed her a $20.00 and she proceeded to give me back $11.00,

So help me, I said, "so I could learn to count!" and handed her a $2.00 tip, she laughed and said "thank you".
